Objectives
• In today's world due to irrigation there might be some possible
wastages. It may be water wastages, wastages of crops and so in
order to solve this issue we introduce an automatic irrigation
system.

• By using this system it will possibly reduce such wastages. So

that better utilization of resources can be made possible.

• It shows the basic switching mechanism of motor using sensors

by sensing moisture present in the soil.
METHODOLOGY
• This project uses arduino UNO to controls the motor. The arduino board
is programmed using the arduino IDE software.

• The moisture sensor measures the level of moisture in the soil and
sends the signal to the arduino if watering is required.

• The motor/water pump supplies water to the plants until the desired
moisture level is reached.
BLOCK DIAGRAM & CIRCUIT DIAGRAM
RESULTS & DISCUSSION
• Irrigation becomes easy, accurate and practical with the idea above
shared and can be implemented in agricultural fields in future to
promote agriculture to next level.

• The working of project is basically dependent on the output of the

working of humidity sensors. Whenever there is need of excess water in
the desired field(Rice crops) then it will not be possible by using sensor
technology. For this we will have to adopt the DTMF technology. By using
this we will be able to irrigate the desired field & in desired amount.
APPLICATIONS
• It can be agricultural fields, lawns & as drip irrigation stems.
• It can be used for cultivation purposes.
• It can be used to provide water in nursery planting arena.
• It can be used for wide range of crops as one can customize reference required for different kind
of crops.
• Pond water management and water transfer.

CONCLUSIONS
Thus the “SMART PLANT WATERING SYSTEM" has been designed and tested
successfully. It has been developed by integrated features of all the hardware
components used. Thus, the Arduino Based Automatic Plant Watering System has
been designed and tested successfully. The system has been tested to function
automatically. The moisture sensors measure the moisture level (water content)
of the different plants. If the moisture level is found to be below the desired level,
the moisture sensor sends the signal to the Arduino board which triggers the
Water Pump to turn ON and supply the water to respective plant. When the
desired moisture level is reached, the system halts on its own and the Water
Pump is turned OFF.
