Artwork Title: Domination of technology on human

Year: October to December 2020
Artist: Anindita Ghosh

- The creator of the artwork claims that whereas humans once controlled technology, we
now find ourselves being overtaken by it because of our obsession with cellphones and
other modern technologies. At this moment, it is challenging to envision a world without
technology. The quality of life has changed significantly as a result. The way we behave
and function has altered as a result of technology permeating every part of our lives.
Technology has improved every aspect of our life, from networking and healthcare to
communication and transportation. The finest thing is that it always improves by enabling
more sophisticated functions. For instance, video calls and instant messaging have
come a long way from conventional voice calls. Not to mention that technology has
helped during the pandemic. Video calling and posting messages on the internet have
created the road for people to contact with one another during times of global lockdown.
Despite our distance, technology allowed us to remain united. Work from home
situations were only made possible by technology, which further sped up the economy
as the pandemic faded. Online greetings are more common than in-person interactions
among people. In the end, this leads to isolation and a feeling of alienation from society.
Numerous research have revealed that those who interact with society less often
experience mental health problems including depression and social anxiety. There are
many advantages to technology, but there are also certain disadvantages. These include
employment insecurity owing to rising automation, gadget addiction, and a decreased
ability to experience life's events. In contrast technology has undoubtedly raised our
standard of living in many areas, it has also introduced a plethora of new difficulties and
risks that need to be dealt with. Although our lives are more connected than ever, this
can compromise our safety and personal information.

2. Martin Heidegger is not against technology but against how we extract the resources
(coming from nature) for the technology that man creates. Write a one-paragraph
personal reaction paper on this video. (5 pts)
- Heidegger emphasizes the role that technology has had in hastening our demise by
limiting our perception of reality. He makes the case that we currently only regard human
beings and nature from a technological standpoint, that is, as raw materials for
technological processes. Heidegger aims to shed light on this phenomena and discover
a method of thought that could free us from its grip, which, in his opinion, has imprisoned
modern civilisation in both the communist East and the democratic West. Heidegger
contends that recognizing the dangers of technology is the only way we may free
ourselves from this burden.
