I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

1. Narrates the life of selected contemporary Filipino composers;


2. Analyzes the musical characteristics of traditional and
contemporary Philippine composers; and
3. Sing at least one (1) composition from 20th century contemporary
Philippine composers.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: 20th century Filipino traditional composers

Sub – Topic: Well-known song composers and lyricist

Prolific lyricist and composer, also a violinist, he had written
the lyrics for over 4,000 songs in his lifetime
He always be remembered for songs such as Ang Pipit;
bagong pagsilang; Itik-itik; sa ugoy ng duyan and etc.”

Born on nov.11, 1903 and died on August 16, 1982
His works are Bayan ko; babalik ka rin;ang tangi kong pag-

“next we have Miguel “Mike” Guison Velarde Jr.


Velarde created his own style as he composed highly
melodious and romantic songs
His works are Ikaw; lahat ng araw; habang Buhay; etc.” (listen attentively)

His works are Kamia, Lakambini, harana and etc.”

Born on April 22, 1921 and died on Dec. 22, 2014
