ALBAY

Albay, officially the Province of Albay, is a province in the Bicol Region of the Philippines, mostly on
the southeastern part of the island of Luzon. Its capital is the city of Legazpi, the regional center of
the whole Bicol Region, which is located in the southern foothill of Mayon Volcano. 
Here are the famous delicacies, traditional clothes, and basic greetings of their dialect.

Famous Delicacies

1. Pili Nut Candies

Albay is known for its premium homegrown pili nut candies. The ingredients are pilinuts, butter, and
syrup. There are different variants of pili nut candies you can choose from. These are the bestsellers:
Mazapan De Pili, Caramelitos, Butternuts, Pastillas, and Sesame seed coated pili nut candies.

2.Bicol Express

Bicol Express is one of the most popular spicy dish in the country. It is a meat dish mixed with coconut
milk, sauteed shrimp paste, and chili. This recipe was based on the original Malate creation.
3. Pinangat

Albay’s another signature dish is the ‘’pinangat’’ which is prepared with meat, chili, coconut milk, and
taro leaves (gabi leaves).

4. Inulukan

This aromatic dish is another version of laing but with slight recipes. Inulukan is made from the shredded
meat of river crabs (ulok) then wrapped in several layers of taro leaves cooked with line and coconut
milk.

5. Tiwi Halo-Halo

This is Bicol’s most popular halo-halo in Tiwi, Albay, at the DJC Halo-Halo. It has a combination of snowy
perfect shaved ice, minatamis na saba ( bananas cooked in sugar syrup), and ube halaya (purple yam).
6.Ligao’s Rice Puto

This is Ligao’s famous hot and freshly steamed rice puto. They have 2 flavors which are macapuno and
pandan.

7.Longanisa De Guinobatan

Albay’s another famous delicacy from the town of Guinobatan, Albay is called ‘’Longganisa De
Guinobatan’’. It is a pork sausage with a salty flavor dipped in vinegar and egg.

8.Sili Ice Cream

This is Albay’s famous sili ice cream. Its


strawberry-like color that looks so delicious.
This ice cream’s primary ingredients are
strawberry ice cream, siling labuyo, and coconut
milk.
