Safety Measures
• Prior to taking any action in the generator, it must be switched off using the control
console off switch.

..\,,,\ :.
IJ.,
''1-,...,(1'.:.t,)
'

Fig. 1

II &WARNING II When the generator Is switched off, there is still voltage present
on the T3 transformer and on the switch-on circuit.
After switching off the generator, there is still approx. 600 V DC
voltage present for the inverter board D51 O! This is indicated by
the LEDs on the D510 board (Fig.1).
The voltage dissipates within approx. 2 minutes to < 30 V; the
LEDs go off at approx. 30 V.

• To prevent unintentional triggering of high voltage or radiation, set the IGNITION switch
on the D500 to OFF (no control of the inverter).

/f &WARNING II Checks or adjustments that must be performed with rad iation

switched on are labeled with the radiation warning symbol •,•.
While performing such work, appropriate radiation safety mea-
sures must be provided.

Here, various titles/possible selections are displayed . The next submenu on
which the cursor is located is selected using the "kV+" key.
2 Configuration menu:
In the configuration menu, current settings/configurations for the generator,

switch must be pressed (it is sufficient to press it only to "prep"). Then the
line is given a checkmark ( v);
for options that are excluded, the checkmark
( v) is removed. In addition, configuration options can be available (what
are referred to as check boxes) that can be selected or deselected ( □ ).
3 Exposure menu:
The exposure menu appears after selecting a line in the menu in which an

adjustment or test must be performed. The name of the adjustment or test
appears and the corresponding parameters. The corresponding action is

performed by pressing the exposure switch.
4 Display menu: I
This is purely a display menu. The desired values or parameters are dis-

Measurement of lontomat Drift (lontomat drift)

Thi~ measurement is performed to test the disturbance voltage level of the entire auto-
matic e_xp_osur~ device signal circuit (including cabling and detector) . When thi~ is_done,
th_e radiation signal is suppressed (by covering the detector or the radiation exit window_
with lea~) ~nd only the noise and disturbance signals are included. This way, the dose sig -
nal that Is included is slowed down by the hardware. A specific thresho ld value may not be
exceeded within a specified time period .
Maximum admissible drift: ± 2V/0.5 s
During the measurement of the drift, the min. dose monitoring as well as the amplification
of the dose rate signal are not activated .
The following checks must be performed several times, one after the other, for all con-
nected detectors and measuring fields that are connected ; for th is, select the particular
automatic exposure unit workstation or the particular measuring field.

NOTICE The generator must be switched on at least 5 minutes prior to per- w.,=--1(~
forming the checks.

NOTICE If a digital oscilloscope is used for the measurements, measure-

ment may not be in the "Glitch Detect Mode" (determination of a
mean value, smoothing), because if this is done, the measure-
ments will be falsified.

Test Procedure
• Switch the generator OFF.
• Connect the oscilloscope at
- D500 board, X170_Vout and A_GND
- Trigger: D500 board , X120_Start_lnv (start inverter)
• Set the S 1/D500 service switch to "ON".
• Switch the generator ON.
• In the service mode, select /Main/Various tests/ lontomat drift:
The control console composes an exposure data set as follows:
- Large focus,
- 73kV,
- 80% tube power,

• The drift measurement is made when the exposure switch is pressed.

I\ CAUTION \\ Maintain the required pauses for the tube unit between the expo-
sures (at least 5 minutes).

• Measure the drift (oscillogram)

NOTICE The measurement of drift refers to the Integrator output of the

U/F converter, I.e., with Start_lnv ON and when the threshold volt-
age of O V is reached, the output voltage is set to + 1.5 V (± 0.3 V).

-> Maximum admissible drift: ± 2 V/0.5 s

NOTICE If the drift measurement is out of tolerance, carry out a check of
the hum voltage, see next point!

~ • Enter the measurement values in the Measurement Certificate.

• Set the S1 /D500 service switch to OFF.
• Switch the generator OFF.

Checking the Hum Voltage (only if drift measurement is out of tolerance)

(Page 3-4/5)
• Set the same conditions as for the measurement of drift.
• Connect the oscilloscope to the D500 board , X170_ Vin and A_GND .
Trigger: D500 / X120 Start_lNV
• Trigger exposure and measure the hum voltage UsR (see oscillogram) .

NOTICE Depending on the oscilloscope settings (HF filter, peak detection,

sampling), it is possible that the measurement will have to be per-
formed several times!

• Enter the measurement value in the Measurement Certificate.

• Set the S1/0500 service switch to OFF.
• Switch the generator OFF.
