Today, our focus shifted to an exciting new dimension as we were introduced to the world of
computer-aided design and drafting (CADD). In the office, we had the opportunity to familiarize
ourselves with the Lira 9.6 software program and received hands-on training in several drawing
functions. Additionally, we were provided with valuable tips on how to effectively utilize this
software for our engineering tasks.
Our day began with an introduction to the Lira 9.6 software program, a powerful tool widely used in
the field of structural engineering and design. We learned about its capabilities, features, and the
importance of CADD in modern construction projects.
Following the introduction, we engaged in practical training sessions where we learned to use Lira
9.6 for various drawing functions. This hands-on experience included creating structural drawings,
detailing components, and understanding the software's user interface.
Today, as we returned to the office, we found ourselves immersed in a busy work environment,
leaving limited time for dedicated training sessions. To accommodate our schedules, our mentors
decided to introduce us to some tutorial videos for LIRA 9.6 software. We spent the day watching
these instructional videos, which served a dual purpose of providing us with a deeper understanding
of the program and helping us correct misconceptions about some of its basic functions.
Our day began with educational videos associated with the Lira 9.6 software. These tutorials covered
topics such as program’s basic fundamental features and explanation of toolbars.
As we watched the tutorials, we gained deeper insights into Lira 9.6's capabilities and functionalities.
We appreciated the structured approach of these videos, which provided step-by-step guidance on
various aspects of the program.
The day also revealed that LIRA 9.6 is a very complex software with a lot of features and toolbars and
we found that we misunderstood about certain basic functions of the software. By watching the
videos and following along with the tutorials, we were able to correct these misunderstandings and
develop a more accurate understanding of Lira software.
On the third day, when we arrived at the office, we continued with the instructional videos that we
couldn't finish the previous day. These videos covered topics such as the operation of the program's
toolbars and the functioning of several other features.
By the end of the third day, we felt a significant transformation in our proficiency with LIRA 9.6. The
tutorial videos had equipped us with a basic but enough understanding of the software, making us
confident in our ability to excel in making simple building structures in this software. Our journey of
learning and growth continued but we knew that in this internship we cannot learn and memorize
much about LIRA9.6 software but we will do what we can to improve our knowledge and we eagerly
anticipated what the following days of our training would bring.

Today, we continued our journey with the Lira 9.6 program. Despite the busy work environment in
the office, we managed to stay focused on our tasks and make progress in our learning journey.
Building upon what we had learned from the Lira 9.6 tutorial videos, we took the opportunity to
apply these functions in practical scenarios, enhancing our understanding.
Our day began with a practical application of the functions we had learned from the Lira 9.6 tutorial
videos. We utilized the software to work on specific basic tasks, allowing us to gain hands-on
experience and a deeper understanding of its capabilities.
Furthermore, we engaged in collaborative discussions with fellow interns who were also using the
Lira program. Our primary focus was on detailing within the Lira program and the practical
application of the new functions we had recently acquired.
Our day in the office was dedicated to further exploring the capabilities of the Lira program, as we
continued our journey into computer-aided design and drafting (CADD).
We began by delving into the world of detailed design work using Lira САРR. Our task for the day
was to create basic structural designs within the software. This involved specifying dimensions, types
of the beam and column which can be specified according to the building design aim.
Collaboration was a key aspect of our day. We worked closely with fellow interns, sharing insights,
and learning from each other's experiences. This collaborative approach enriched our understanding
of the software and fostered a sense of teamwork.
Today we arrived at office and begin with designing our basic structure in lira software we tried to
optimize our usage of toolbars and tried to explore new shortcuts to speed up our design progress,
one of the fellow engineer showed us load application and tried to explain what every part of load
application toolbar means. There are 7 load configurations to be applied to any building
1. Dead load
2. Live load
3. Wind load as x axis entry
4. Wind load as x axis exit
5. Wind load as y axis entry
6. Wind load as y axis exit
7. Earthquake loads
The application of these loads gives us a stress diagram for the building shows us which section
needs additional reinforcement

We began our day with redesigning our structure in lira software to be more efficient in making the
framing of the structure. Framing of the structure includes columns, beams, secondary beams
(which are type of beam which rests on another beam for increasing the stability of the slab), slabs.
And tried to recreate the loading we were shown yesterday, but we were not able to recreate the
loads and graph it using the right tools, so we asked a fellow engineer to help show us how to
correctly use of the loading function of the LIRA software, but after he explained us we had to give
the computer to another engineer because he had to use the LIRA software for their ongoing project
and we were able to notice what the engineer is doing in the LIRA software. And we ended the day
to come back tomorrow for further work on LIRA 9.6 software
At 06.30, the three of us gathered at the metro "and went to the Baku bus station, on the way we
got into a traffic jam and almost missed the bus, while traveling with bus for 3 hours we discussed an
action plan to go to the construction site, which is located in the city of Lankaran near the Lankaran
railway station. Upon arrival in the city of Lankaran, we started looking for a hotel after finding
somewhere to stay then we went to find a place to have lunch. Having met with the Coordinator of
our construction site, who is also the owner of the company, Inam Aliyev informed us about
workplace safety rules and personal protective equipment (PPE) . We signed an access log to the site
and received helmets as a means of protection. Having examined the construction site, we noticed
how everything had changed after our first visit here. Since evening had already come, we had to
return to the hotel for the night.
In the morning, we got out of the hotel and went to the worksite which was 30 minutes away from
the hotel. Upon our arrival, we promptly signed the safety journal to comply with the site's safety
protocols. As we entered the site, we encountered some of the site staff whom we hadn't met the
previous day. We exchanged greetings and continued to establish a friendship with them.
Our next step was to head to the on-site office, where we familiarized ourselves with the site's
layout and overall plan. This included getting an in-depth understanding of the various work areas,
equipment locations, and key facilities.
After our productive session in the office, it was time for lunch, and we enjoyed a midday meal. Once
we had satisfied our appetites, we returned to the site to continue our day.
As the day progressed, the weather took a turn, and it became noticeably colder in the evening.
Realizing the drop in temperature, we found ourselves in need of warmer clothing. After returning to
the hotel we reached out to the hotel staff for assistance, and they kindly provided us with blankets
to ensure our comfort during the chilly evening. This unexpected but much-appreciated gesture
highlighted the hospitality and support we received during our time on the Lankaran.

In the morning, we got out of the hotel, and the lingering cold from the previous night still persisted.
This cold weather condition had already begun to affect the pace of work at the site. We arrived at
the site around 9:30 am, and upon our arrival, we were introduced to the site team.
We inquired about the various tasks the team members were working on and gained insight into the
specific processes happening within different sections of the site. Throughout the day, we continued
our work on the site, with activities and tasks keeping us occupied until around 2-3 pm.
Around that time, our supervisor recommended that we return to the hotel for the day. This
suggestion was due to the unexpectedly cold weather that we hadn't anticipated, and we had
dressed somewhat lightly for the conditions. Taking our supervisor's advice into consideration, we
decided to take their recommendation.
Back at the hotel, we had the opportunity to discuss and reflect on what we had experienced during
the day on the site. It was a valuable opportunity to share insights and observations with our
colleagues. The day concluded with a sense of learning and adaptability as we navigated the
challenges posed by the unpredictable weather conditions.
