This Self-Learning Kit was collaboratively designed and developed for the
Special Program in Journalism learners. The authors anchored the development of
the SLK from the standards and the Most Essential Learning Competencies
(MELCs) set by the K to 12 Enhanced Basic Education Curriculum.

Learning Objectives At the end of this module, the learners are expected to:

GLIMPSES
News is a timely and factual narration of past, present and future event. This could
be presented through oral, written or visual medium. It is oral if the medium used
is the radio, written if it is through newspaper, magazine and other reading
materials, and visual if it is through television, movie, and internet. News is an
accurate and timely account of an idea, issue or event that affects a significant
number of people.
Page designing – refers to the lay outing of the newspaper page, which is also
known as page make- up. It is the arrangement of articles, cuts (pictures),
headlines, nameplate, folio and other contents on the page.
News Page a page in a campus paper which contains the covered news in the
school and the community.
