3. A sweet seller has 420 kaju burfis and 130 badam burfis she wants to stack them in such a way that
each stack has the same number, and they take up the least area of the tray. What is the number of burfis
that can be placed in each stack for this purpose?
4. Find the largest number which divides 245 and 1029 leaving remainder 5 in each case.
5. In a morning walk, three persons step off together. Their steps measure 80 cm, 85 cm and 90 cm
respectively. What is the minimum distance each should walk so that all can cover the same distance in
complete steps?
6. Determine the smallest 3-digit number which is exactly divisible by 6, 8 and 12.
7. Find the least number which when divided by 6, 15 and 18 leave remainder 5 in each case.
8. A merchant has 120 litres of oil of one kind, 180 litres of another kind and 240 litres of third kind. He
wants to sell the oil by filling the three kinds of oil in tins of equal capacity. What would be the greatest
capacity of such a tin?
9. Given that 𝐻𝐶𝐹 (306, 𝑥) = 9 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐿𝐶𝑀 (306, 𝑥) = 22338 find the value of 𝑥.
10. Find the HCF and LCM of 144, 180 and 192 by using prime factorization method.
11. Prove that √7 is irrational.
12. Prove that 5 − 2√3 is an irrational number.
13. Prove that 7 + 3√2 is an irrational number.
14. Prove that √2 + √3 is an irrational number.
15. Find the HCF and LCM of 306 and 54. Verify that HCF × LCM = Product of the two numbers.

14. Shweta and her husband Sunil who is an architect by profession, visited France. They went to see
Mont Blanc Tunnel which is a highway tunnel between France and Italy, under the Mont Blanc
Mountain in the Alps, and has a parabolic cross-section. The mathematical representation of the tunnel
is shown in the graph.

Based on the above information, answer the following questions.

(i) Write the zeroes of the polynomial whose graph is given above.
(ii) Find the quadratic polynomial represented by the parabola in the above graph.
(iii) If the graph is represented by the quadratic polynomial 𝒙2 + 𝟑𝒙 − 𝟐, then find its zeroes.

15. While playing in garden, Sana saw a honeycomb and asked her mother what is that. She replied that
it's a honeycomb made by honey bees to store honey. Also, she told her that the shape of the
honeycomb formed is parabolic. The mathematical representation of the honeycomb structure is shown
in the graph.

Based on the above information, answer the following questions.

(i) Write the zeroes of the polynomial whose graph is given above.
(ii) Find the quadratic polynomial represented by the parabola in the above graph.
(iii) If the graph is represented by the quadratic polynomial, the sum and product of whose zeroes are

CHAPTER 3. PAIR OF LINEAR EQUATIONS IN TWO VARIABLES
1. For what value(s) of k, does the following pair of L.E.s has infinite number of solutions?

9. A lending library has a fixed charge for the first three days and an additional charge for each day
thereafter. Sara paid ₹50 for a book kept for 7 days, while Reshma paid ₹40 for the book she kept for 5
days. Find the fixed charge and the charge for each extra day.

10. If we add 1 to the numerator and subtract 1 from the denominator, a fraction reduces to 1. It becomes 2

11. The sum of a two-digit number and the number obtained by reversing the digits is 66. If the digits of

triangular region formed by the lines with 𝒚 − 𝒂𝒙𝒊𝒔. Also find its vertices.
