The learner demonstrates understanding in solving routine and nonroutine

word problems including money.
b. Performance Standard
The learner is able to apply multiplication of whole numbers including

money in mathematical problems and real-life situations.
c. Learning Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
• Analyze and solve routine and nonroutine word problems involving

multiplication of whole numbers
• Identify different steps in solving word problems; and
• Emphasize the importance of solving routine and nonroutine word
problems in real-life situations.

Before we start, let us check the attendance first.

Okay class, before you take your seat kindly pick up the pieces of
paper under your chair and sit properly.
B. Motivatory Activities
i. Motivation
I have prepared a song for you students! Come and sing with me.
It’s mathematics time!
ii. Recall
Before we begin our lesson, let us have a recap about our past
lesson. So, who among you can recall about our last topic?

Okay so it seems like you still remember our previous topic very well.

I have here some questions, and all you have to do is to raise your
hand if you know the answer.

Now, let’s proceed to our discussion which is titled “Solving Routine and
Nonroutine Word Problems Involving Multiplication of Whole Numbers
Including Money”
A group of factory workers can wrap 830

candies an hour. How many candies can they
wrap in 72 hours?
Take a look at the problem and try to analyze it.

We have here some steps to be able to solve this problem:
a. Understand
1. Read and understand the problem.
2. Know what is asked for in the problem.

The number of candies that a group of factory workers can wrap in
72 hours.
3. Find the necessary information.

The given facts are: 830 candies an hour; 72 hours

Determine the operation to be used. Multiplication

Solve using the operation.

Now class, prepare 1 whole sheet of paper and answer the following problems.
1. The Vera’s flower farm produces 256 roses a day. If a flower costs Php25,
how much is the sale of Vera’s flower farm in a day?
2. Tiles are sold by the box of 10 pieces. A box of tiles costs Php480. If Mr.
Cruz need 547 pieces of tiles for his apartment, how much will he spend?
Good job students! Most of you got a perfect score. Now I know that you already
have enough knowledge in solving routine and nonroutine word problems
involving multiplication of whole numbers including money. And you can always
use it in your daily life like when you buy things or something.
V. ASSIGNMENT / AGREEMENT
And now, before we end our class, kindly take note of our assignment which
will be passed on our next meeting.
1. A mini concert, the ticket booth sold 585 booklets. Each booklet has 100
tickets. If a ticket costs Php20.00, how much is the total sale of the booth.
2. On a graphing paper, write the words LITER and GRAM. Let a classmate
guess the value of each word if it is tiled at Php45 per tile.
