Dear Readers
Greetings to you all!
With great pride we present you the new
edition of our magazine ‘Our Green
Planet.’
As we all know that all living and non-
living organisms come under the nature.
Now days we all are running out of
oxygen because of lack of trees and too
much of urbanization around us.
So, my perspective behind this edition of
our magazine is to create awareness about
preserving our environment.
I will wish a happy reading experience to
all our readers!!!!!!
Jadav Payeng {The Famous
Environmentalist}
Introduction-
Jadav "Molai" Payeng (born 1963) is
an environmental activist and forestry
worker from Majuli, popularly known
as the Forest Man of India. Over the
course of several decades, he has
planted and tended trees on a sandbar
of the river Brahmaputra turning it
into a forest reserve. The forest, called
Molai forest after him, is located near
Kokilamukh of Jorhat, Assam, India
and encompasses an area of about
1,360 acres / 550 hectares. In 2015, he
was honoured with Padma Shri, the
fourth highest civilian award in India.
He was born in the indigenous Mising
tribe of Assam.
Honors’-
Jadav Payeng was honored at a public
function arranged by the School of
Environmental Sciences, Jawaharlal
Nehru University on 22 April 2012 for
his achievement. He shared his
experience of creating a forest in an
interactive session, where Magsaysay
Award winner Rajendra Singh and
JNU vice-chancellor Sudhir Kumar
Sopory were present. Sopory named
Jadav Payeng as the "Forest Man of
India".In the month of October 2013,
he was honored at the Indian Institute
of Forest Management during their
annual event Coalescence. In 2015, he
was honored with Padma Shri, the
fourth highest civilian award in India.
He received honorary doctorate degree
from Assam Agricultural University
and Kaziranga University for his
contributions.

Author: Hello Mr. Gore, since you are
serving government environmentalist.
What are the challenges you have
faced during preserving our
environment?
Mr. Gore: The challenges we are
facing during preserving our
environment are pollution, health
issues, deforestation etc.
Author: What steps you are taking to
resolve these key challenges?
Mr. Gore: Certainly we are taking so
many steps to resolve these key
challenges.
1. We are not giving permission to
the projects not having 35% of
green area.
2. We are eliminating diesel and
petrol car and launching electric
cars.
3. We are trying to grow more and
more trees.
Author: So, Mr. Gore as you got an
award this year I would like to
congratulate you.
Mr. Gore: Thanks a lot
Author: Since the show had reached to
its end, would you like to give a
message to our country men?
Mr. Gore: Yes, I would like to give a
message that please try to grow more
and more trees and if you cannot do
that so please keep care of the trees
which are already there.
Also, try to commute using public
transport and use cycles or walking
while going in and around your
neighborhood.
