•Functions of parts
Compressor · .... ·. This raises pressure of the low-tempe1rature and low-pressure refrigerant evaporated in the
evaporator so that it can be easily liquidized in the condenser.
Condenser . · · · · . · · This liquidizes the high-pressure and high-ternperature refrigerant discharged by
the compressor with cooling water. This is of the marine type shell and cross fintube ; i.e.
the alblack cooling tubes are arranged in the steel body and the tube plates made of naval
club steel are provided at both ends of the cooling tubes.
Expansion valve · · · The high-temperature and high-pressure liquid refrigerant discharged by the condenser is
not useful, though it flows into evaporator. So, the expansion valve is located between the
condenser and the evaporator to reduce pressure, and changes it into the low-temperature
and iow-pressure refrigerant which can be easily evaporated in the evaporator.
Evaporator . · · · ·. · · This evaporates the low-temperature refrigerant passed through the expansion valve, taking
heat from the air sucked. At this time, this removes humidity from the airas well.
Fan · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · This draws the room air into the unit and discharges it to the room after it is cooled by the
evaporator.
Starter box · · · · · · · · This contains safety divices such as rnagnetic switches and fuses, and operating devices.
Air filters · · · · · · · · · · This removes dust from the air during operation.
Steam heater · · · · · · This is a heat exchanger in which room air drawn in is heated with high-temperature steam.
Steam spray · · · · · · · This spray steam to the room air drawn in for humidifying.

Clean the air filter once every two weeks

<Procedure>
1. Prepare a scale for refrigerant measurement and place a refrigerant cylinder on it.
2. Run cooling water through.
3. Check if the condenser inlet stop valve (V1) is open. lf not, open it manually.
4. Fill the refrigerant from the condenser outlet stop valve (V2) and the refrigerant charge port (gauge joint with
check valve). (The stop valve is half closed.)
e Connect the refrigerant cylinder with the charge hose (manifoid gauge) to reiease air from the hose.
• Charge the specified amount of liquid refrigerant with the refrigerant cylinder HCFC (R22) upside down and
the refrigerant cylinder HFC (R407C) upright.
5. When any more refrigerant cannot be charged since a good balance between the high pressure and the low
pressure has been reached, set the condenser outlet stop valve to "c!ose" and then operate the compressor.
6. When the charged amount almost reaches the amount that is 1kg minus from the specified amount, narrow
down the valve of the refrigerant cylinder. Then continue charging until the specified amount is achieved.
7. After the specified amount of refrigerant has been charged, clase the outlet stop valve (V2) to perform pump
down operation.
Detach the charge hose immediateiy after stop. Otherwise, the liquid refrigerant may gush out to cause frostbite.
8. Using a permanent marker, leave the charge amount, dlate of charge, company name and person who charged
the refrigerant on the label for additional refrigerant charge attached under the operation switch.

Clean the air filter onci9 every two weeks.

11 Preparation for operation 1
Check the following points before starting the air conditioner.
(1) Turn on the power switch for condenser water pump.
(2) Check whether the water regulating valves are fülíy--opened and condenser water is supplied sufficiently to
the air conditioner.
• lf the air conditioner is operated without condenser water supply, high pressure switch (safety device) will
function and stop the air conditioner.
• lf condenser water supplying volume is excessive, the life of the condensar will be shortened (dueto
corrosion of the cooling tubes caused by excessively high or low water velocity), so supply the predesigned
volume of condenser water to the condenser.
