Hand Tools
1. Wrench or Spanner is a tool used to provide grip and mechanical
advantage in applying torque to turn objects—usually rotary fasteners,
such as nuts and bolts—or keep them from turning. A set of metric
spanners or wrenches, open at one end and box/ring at the other. These
are commonly known as “combination” spanners.
2. Screwdrivers are a type of hand tool used for the insertion and removal
of screws. They are available in a multitude of variations to correspond to
the correct screw drive. The drive or head of a screw has a shaped cavity
and protrusion that fits the screwdriver tip.
3. Plier’s hand-operated tool for holding and gripping small articles or for
bending and cutting wire. Slip-joint pliers have grooved jaws, and the
pivot hole in one member is elongated so that the member can pivot in
either of two positions in order to grasp objects of different size in the
Flat Chisel is the basic cold chisel, used in the cutting of a variety of
metals. The cutting edges of some flat chisels may be somewhat rounded
because otherwise, the corners may start to gouge the surface the chisel is
being used on.
Crosscut (or cape) Chisel is designed for those who want to get into
those tight areas. The design of the tool is such that the handle is thinner
than the cutting edge, which narrows on two sides until it reaches a point.
Half-round Chisel is a type of chisel which has a rounded shape,
although the top of the tool is actually flat. It is designed to create
grooves/channels with rounded bottoms.
Diamond Point Chisel has a diamond shaped tip and is used to create
grooves with a “V” shape, something which may be desirable in many
instances, including carving.
8. Wire Brush is an abrasive tool with stiff filaments made from various
rigid materials designed to clean and prepare metal surfaces. The
filaments of wire brushes are thin pieces of inflexible material that are
Power Tools
Worm Drive Saw has the motor attached at the rear. This is very
powerful and its power is driven through two gears each set at 90 degrees.
This setting implies that the engine produces more torque but less
Rotation Per Minute (RPM) of about 4,500.
Flooring Saw is the tools that will allow you to create the necessary cross
cuts, rip cuts, and miters.
Due to different design ideas or patent constraints or a combination of
both, the direct drive saw (sidewinder) was later developed featuring the
motor next to the blade. This made the saw wider, but also shorter and
lighter, than a worm drive saw. It also provided more control for the less
experienced user.
Trim Saw is best for trimming and not for directly cutting wood pieces
down to size. Also, since they are much lighter, trim saws are much easier
to maneuver around materials, making them excellent cordless models.
Left-handed Saw is typically easier to use if held in the right hand, and
contrariwise for the right-handed saw, because the user does not need to
lean across the saw to see the cutting line.
5. Welding Equipment
Welding machine is a device used for
fusing metals. The machine emits an
electrical arc from an electrode which melts
metal or supplies filler into a joint between
two pieces of metal. To produce the
temperatures up to 3,600ºC needed to fuse
metals, arc welding machines consume
significant quantities of energy.
1. Utility Knife is any type of knife used for general manual work purposes.
Such knives were originally fixed-blade knives with durable cutting
edges suitable for rough work such as cutting cordage, cutting/scraping
hides, butchering animals, cleaning fish scales, reshaping timber, and
other tasks.
