1.0 INTRODUCTION
This essay writing competition provides a platform for students to express their ideas
creatively through writing following the theme of “Environment, Technology, and
Growing up”.
This competition aims to provide a platform for students to display their talent in
writing skills using correct use of language, grammatically apt and precise creative
expression. It also aims to inculcate students’ interest in writing English language
essays.
2.0 ELIGIBILITY
2.1 This competition is open to all Form 6 students of government-aided schools and
colleges only.
3.1 Only two participants from each district are allowed to participate.
3.4 Essays must be submitted in .pdf file and uploaded via a link that will be provided
by 20th November 2023. The organiser will not be responsible for corrupt files or
delay of entries submitted.
3.5 Essays must be own works of participants, authentic, original and must never be
published before or have never won a prize in any other prior competitions.
Plagiarised or translated works will be disqualified immediately.
3.5 Essays must not touch on sensitive issues of ethnic, race and religion of any kind.
3.6.1 All participants’ personal information should be specified in the entry form
provided through the link given.
3.6.2 Essays must be typed in Times New Roman (12), and 1.5 spacing.
3.6.3 Completed essays must be submitted in .pdf file and uploaded via a link (see
item 3.4)
3.7 The length of essay must be at least 600 words and must not exceed 1500 words.
Essays that do not adhere to the number of words specified will be disqualified
immediately.
3.9 Each essay submitted will not be returned to the author and the organiser reserves the
right to print and publish the winning essays of this competition. However, the
copyright remains with the author.
3.11 The organiser will not be liable of any form of claim related to plagiarism against
participants by any relevant party.
4.0 ADJUDICATION
4.1 Essays will be vetted by a panel of 3 judges that will be appointed by the organising
PPD and JPN SABAH.
4.3 Judges will collectively determine the placing by a clear majority vote.
4.5 Constant violation of rule 3.5 will cause participant to lose their placing, title and
prizes – even after official results announcement as appropriate.

All matters not stated in the concept paper or any exclusion to the rules and all other
unexpected matters and issues on interpretation will be decided by the organising
committee of the competition.
