FS 1 Learning Episode 5
The intended Learning Outcomes of this Episode is for you to be able to:
Let us revisit first some Learning Essentials. The classroom climate that is
conducive for learning is one that is not self-threatening yet is business-like
where the following are observed:
• Specific classroom rules and procedures are clear.
• Classroom rules and procedures are discussed within the first few
days of the school.
• Students are involved in designing of rules and procedures.
• Clear limits for unacceptable behaviour are established and negative
consequences for such are communicated.
• Techniques to acknowledge and reinforce acceptable behaviour are
employed.
• Classroom practices are democratic.
Watch the video presentations and answer the questions that follow:

Observe: Observe and use the observation sheet for you to document your
observation.
2. Focus on their behaviour. Are they able to manage their own behaviour?
Analyze and answer these questions based on observed classroom management practices. Write your notes below; and
then organize your data in Activity 5.2
1. Are there areas in the classroom for specific purposes (storage of teaching
aids, books, students’ belongings, supplies, etc.)? Will it make a difference if
these areas for specific purposes are not present?
Yes, they also have organized their things from modules, portfolios and
personal hygiene.
2. Are there rules and procedures posted in the room? Do these rules
reinforce positive behaviour?
Yes, since the students follow all the classroom rules.
3. Did the students participate in making classroom rules? What’s the effect
of students’ participation in rule-making on students’ behaviour?
Yes, since the teacher also ask if it’s okay to them and they agreed and also
have classroom officers and peacemakers.
4. Is there a seating arrangement? What is the basis of this arrangement.
Does this help in managing the class?
They have their seating arrangement and randomly arrange and it helps
since the teacher arrange them by girls-boys-girls and so on.
5. Observe the noise level in the classroom. How is this managed?
The noise level of the classroom is a bit high and the peacemaker managed
it by listing the noisy.
6. If a learner is not following instruction or is off-task, what does the
resource teacher in the video do? Describe the behaviour strategies used.
The teacher personally talks to him/her so that the student can understand
more about the instruction.
7. What does the Resource Teacher in the video do to reinforce positive
behaviors?
Motivating and encouraging them while the teacher disciplines the student.
Reflect
Reflection as a future teacher.
1. Why do we need to enforce positive discipline?
Enforcing positive discipline is essential for future educators because it promotes a
supportive, respectful, and effective learning environment that fosters students' academic
success and personal development. It aligns with the principles of effective teaching and
the needs of the diverse student population in today's classrooms.
Activity 5.2 Identifying the Different Aspects of Classroom Management
After watching the videos, accomplish the given matrix:
2. What should the teacher keep in mind when he/she designs the classroom
organization and routines. What theories and principles should the teacher have in
mind?
When crafting classroom organization and routines, teachers should take into consideration
various vital factors, including educational theories and principles. The design of classroom
organization and routines should be a deliberate process, guided by educational theories
and principles that align with both students' needs and the teacher's educational beliefs.
The ultimate goal is to establish a learning environment that is welcoming, stimulating, and
all-encompassing.
REFLECT
Reflect on the following and write your insights.
1. Imagine yourself organizing your classroom in the future. In what grade/year level do
you see yourself? What routines and procedures would you consider for this level? Why?
In my future role as a fourth-grade teacher, I envision beginning our day with a
morning routine that fosters a sense of community and positivity. We'll start with a brief
opening prayer, followed by students greeting one another and sharing how their day is
going, emphasizing the importance of open communication. We'll then engage in an
energetic action song I've prepared to kickstart the day with enthusiasm. After the
energizing activity, we'll move on to taking attendance, engaging in motivational activities,
and having discussions.
2. Make a list of the rules you are likely to implement in this level. Why would you choose
these rules?
• Be on time
• Be respectful
• Always find ways to help others
• Keep quiet
• Maintain cleanliness
• Ask question
It's important for teachers to establish classroom rules in collaboration with their
students when possible. Involving students in the rule-making process can make them feel
more invested in maintaining a positive classroom environment and help them better
understand the reasons behind the rules.
3. Should learners be involved in making the class rules? Why?
Yes, because it will make them understand what rules are, and the value of being
responsible in their own action. It also allows for collaboration between students and
teacher in their rules that needs to establish in the classroom and it can also make them
discipline themselves if they were involve in making classroom.
Show your Learning Artifacts
1. From your past experiences and observations of different classrooms, make a drawing
of a classroom whose physical space /learning stations contribute to the effective
implementation of classroom management. Include the placement of the teacher’s table,
windows, door(s), chalkboard, shelves, etc.
