1 Introduction
The Plant iT Configuration Manager is the engineering tool for the Plant iT
process control system. All Plant iT modules are configured with this program.
Target
Becoming familiar with the principle structure of the Plant iT Configuration
Manager
Being able to establish a connection to the parameterization server
Being able to add, copy, delete, and edit new objects
Being able to operate the Plant iT Configuration Manager using shortcut
menus and keyboard shortcuts

2.1 Overview
The Plant iT Configuration Manager is the main configuration tool of the Plant iT
process control system. With this program, you can configure all components of
the process control system.
Start of the application: START – Programs – Proleit – Configuration Manager
Note
You can log on to the parameter service via the user management of the operating
system; since the appropriate users are created during the standard installation of
Plant iT, the user name and password usually do not have to be entered here.
The left area of the program interface The right area of the program interface shows the parameteri-
contains a tree that shows the hierar- zation dialog available for the object selected on the left. The
chical structure of the system. dialogs consist of several parameterization pages with the
structure of an "index card box". The desired page is brought to
the foreground when you click its tab.
2.2 Operation
After the start of the program, the log-on dialog appears. The connection with
Configuration Server is established through this dialog. The server with which
the connection should be established can be selected using the window, in the
same way as other network connections are established.
Most of the functions can be called using the toolbar, menu bar, and shortcut
menus.

Note
When you position the mouse cursor (without pressing a button) over an symbol, a
brief note about the symbol will be displayed next to the mouse cursor.
3.1.1 Function
With the location keys (maximum of four levels), the tree structure can be orga-
nized according to the locations of the plant.
They are used to structure a plant. The "directory structure" of the plant is de-
fined using location keys.
You can insert a new data point by clicking the symbol. To do so, you
must select whether it is a data acquisition class (Acquis iT), an automation
class (Direct iT), or a manual input class.
After that, assign the clear short name of the data point (variable name) and the
number of how many objects of the class you want to create.
Note
If you create several objects of one class, the short name will automatically be made
unique with an appended number.
The short name can be changed by selecting it and pressing the F2 key.
F2
The data point can now be parameterized.
When you have completed the entry, confirm with or switch to another
line.
You can copy the data point by clicking the symbol and reinserting it under
You can delete a previously created data point by clicking the symbol.
You can search for parameterized objects in the tree by clicking the sym-
bol.
The following dialog opens:
After entering the entire name or part of the name, you can search for the perti-
nent objects in the parameterization and jump to them with a double-click.
You can transfer the parameterization to the PLC by clicking the symbol.
You can transfer to the PLC either all objects of all stations, all objects of one
station, all objects below a location key, all objects of an automation class, or all
objects changed within a certain period of time.
