Alexandria, Egypt. Her full name was Cleopatra Filopátor Nea Thea, and she
was a member of the Ptolemaic dynasty, a dynasty of Greek origin that ruled
Egypt after the conquest of Alexander the Great in the 4th century BC.
Cleopatra's ancestry dates back to Ptolemy I Soter, one of Alexander the
Great's generals. Members of the Ptolemaic dynasty adopted the title
"Pharaoh" and ruled Egypt for several centuries. However, as the years passed,
