learners:
identify the various home fire safety and prevention tips and give instances of its
application;
recognize the home escape planning and fire safety awareness at work, school,
markets, and shopping centers;
understand the components of the fire triangle as well as the causes of both indoor
and outdoor fires; and
share one’s idea about the importance of home fire prevention and safety tips as
well as home escape planning and fire safety awareness.
C. Instructional materials

III. Procedure
A. Preliminaries
1. Prayer
2. Checking of Attendance
3. Announcements/Checking of Assignments
B. Spring Board/Motivation
The teacher will administer an activity entitled “Kapag alam mo, Edi sagutin
mo.”.
The teacher will inform the class that they will be participating in a short
activity that will assess their understanding about fire prevention.
The teacher will ask for 6 volunteers from the class to participate in the short
activity.
The teacher will pose a different set of questions related to fire prevention. Each
student must respond to the teacher's questions correctly and quickly in order
to avoid being eliminated from the short activity.
The students will solve the various sets of questions by applying critical
thinking skills.
At the end of the short activity, each participant will receive a simple token as
a reward for taking part, while the winner will receive a special token.
C. Lesson Proper
Electrical Appliances
Smoking
Clothing Dryers and Aircon
Fireplaces
Cooking Equipments
The students will be asked to give other examples of Common Causes of Fire at Home and how
to prevent it.
The teacher then will present a poster and demonstrate to the students how to properly use a
Fire Extinguisher.
P – Pull the pin and make sure the nozzle points away from you
A – Aim the extinguisher at the bottom of the fire
S – Squeeze the lever gently
S – Sweep side to side the nozzle across the fire
The teacher then will ask a student to demonstrate how to properly use a Fire Extinguisher.
The teacher will comprehensively discuss the Home Fire Prevention and Safety Tips by giving
other tips and examples.
At the end of the lesson, the students will be asked to give their insights or learnings from the
Home Fire Prevention and Safety Tips.
The teacher will summarize the lesson and inform the students that these tips are essential for
survival and that with practice, the students can become a knowledgeable when it comes to
Fire Safety Awareness.
Home Escape Planning
(prepared by Juvilyn S. Austria)
The teacher will begin the lesson by introducing the topic of Home Escape Planning through
a PowerPoint Presentation.
The teacher will highlight what the students will gain from the discussion.
The teacher will move on to the lesson, imparting information to students about Home Escape
Planning.
As the teacher discusses the lesson, she will then ask the students some questions regarding the
Home Escape Planning.
The students will be asked to give some examples of Home Escape Planning.
The teacher will highlight that these Home Escape Planning are crucial for living and that
with practice, the students can become a knowledgeable when it comes to Fire Safety
Awareness.
The teacher then will present a poster and demonstrate to the students how to how to create a
home escape plan.
At the end of the lesson, the students will be asked to give their insights or learnings from the
Home Escape Planning.
The teacher will summarize the lesson and inform the students that these tips are crucial for
living and that with practice, the students can become a knowledgeable when it comes to Fire
Safety Awareness.
The teacher will begin the lesson by introducing the topic of fire safety for kids.
It is important to teach the kids about some basic fire safety facts and tell them the exact steps
to take or things to do to be safe, so that they will be able to protect themselves, even when
their parents aren’t around.
The students will be asked: What is the right way to bring up the Fire Safety Topic for Kids?
Start small and make the learning process fun.
By tailoring lessons and fun activities around the fire safety, kids will be more inclined or
willing to learn about the subject.
The teacher will present different activities or games using traditional instructional materials
that demonstrate to the students the fun way of teaching the fire safety topic for kids.
After that, the teacher will continue to discuss and explain the different Fire Safety Tips for
Kids
At the end of the lesson, the students will be asked to share what they have learned about the
lesson entitled Fire Safety for Kids.
The fire triangle is a fundamental concept in fire science, illustrating the three essential
elements required for a fire to occur: fuel, oxygen, and heat. This concept is essential for
understanding the basic principles of combustion and fire prevention. The interaction of
these three components creates a self-sustaining chemical reaction known as combustion.
After the teacher defines the fire triangle. The teacher will proceed and continue to discuss the
Three Elements of Fire Triangle: Heat, Fuel and Oxygen.
Heat - is the energy required to raise the temperature of the fuel to a point where it
undergoes combustion. Heat initiates the fire and provides the activation energy for the
chemical reaction to occur. Ex: hot work, electrical safety and arson
Fuel - refers to any substance that can undergo combustion. In the context of the fire
triangle, fuel is the material that will burn in the presence of oxygen and heat. Ex:
flammable materials, fuel, flammable liquids
Oxygen - is a critical component of the atmosphere and serves as the oxidizing agent in
the combustion process. It combines with the fuel to sustain the chemical reaction. Ex:
oxygen and oxygen safeguards
After the discussion then the student will be asked why it is important not to lose one element
in the Fire Triangle.
D. Enrichment Activity
The teacher will administer an activity entitled “Minute To Win It: Fire
Prevention Edition”.
The teacher will explain to students that they are going to have a enrichment
activity that will test their knowledge about what they have learned from the
lesson.
The teacher will ask for one representative per row to participate in the
enrichment activity.
The teacher will instruct the students to write as many different home fire safety
and prevention tips as they can on the whiteboard. The student or row that has
the most answers is the winner.
The students will use their knowledge and the things they have learned from
the discussion to find the answers.
At the end of the enrichment activity, each participant will receive a simple
token as a reward for taking part, while the winner will receive a special
token.
E. Generalization
The teacher will ask the students to give their insights or thoughts and what they
have learned about the topic. (Fire Safety Tips, Fire Safety Awareness, and Fire
Triangle)
The students will be asked to give a short summary or recap about the lesson.
The students will be asked to bring out one 1/4 sheet of paper.
The teacher will explain the direction or instruction in the 15-item identification
quiz.
The teacher will present the prepared 15-item identification quiz for students
through a PowerPoint Presentation.
V. Assignment
The teacher will explain to students that they are going to create fire safety
awareness poster for either house fires or wildfires.
The posters should include the safety tips for preventing the fires as well as what
to do if a fire starts. There should be a one sentence explanation of each tip.
The teacher will divide the students into groups of 4-5 students.
The teacher will designate half of the groups to do house fires and the other half
to do wildfires.
The students will follow the criteria/rubrics in creating their Fire Safety Poster
(The teacher will present a criteria/rubric as part of the assignment)
The students will hang the posters on the wall outside of the classroom to bring
awareness to the rest of the school.
