EXPERIENCE
Although my work experience may not be immediately applicable to the consulting/finance sectors, its
broader implications signal important skills and attributes that add value to these industries. Farm work, for
example, is more applicable to career success than one may expect. The ideal wheat harvest occurs in a short
time frame (around a month or so) to prevent the wheat from spoiling and losing the crop. This important
time frame, paired with a constant that becomes apparent quickly - something always breaks - forces the
successful farmer (and teaches the farmhand) to accept uncertainty, have confidence in their ability to solve
unexpected challenges, have the work ethic to push through based on nature’s deadlines, and stop to
appreciate the beauty of the scenery once in a while.
