Purposes - Usage

• In general terms the word “should” is


used to express advice, there is no other
usage for the word.
• In negative sentences use “should not” or
“ shouldn’t”.

Purposes - Usage

• Must: present obligation. (shows stronger


obligation)
• Have to: can be used in different tenses,
it is considered a semi modal verb, it
needs other auxiliaries.

• You must study for the quiz.
• People must respect each other.
• My sister must finish all her activities before
3pm.
• Kids must have all necessary things.
• Governments must guarantee people’s
security.
Have to

• The students have to come early tomorrow.


• I didn’t have to work yesterday.
• We will have to travel in fifteen days.
• My sister has to do a Project for her master
degree.
