    CEREMONY IN HONOR OF JOSEFA LLANES ESCODA

    ( 124th Birthday Anniversary)


    September 20, 2022

    FORMATION: HORSESHOE
    Equipment: At the center of the horseshoe’s open end is a stand or table on
    which is set a picture of Mrs. Escoda.

    OPENING SONG:
    GIRL SCOUT TOGETHER

    Girl Scouts together that is our song Girl Scouts together happy are we
    Winding the old trail rocky and long Friendly to neighbors far o’er the sea
    Learning our motto, living our creed Faithful to country, loyal to home
    Girl Scouts together in every good deed Known as true Girl Scouts wherever we
    roam

    “Today we honor the memory of the Founder of Girl Scouting in the
    Philippines. The good turns we do each day, the little bits of service we do for others, are
    an emulation of the worthy example she set for us, Girl Scouts.”

    “On this special day, we remember that we owe a debt of love and
    gratitude to our founder, for the gift of Girl Scouting which she brought to our shores, for
    her struggles to set up the movement amidst a sea of apathy, for her courage and her
    strength to live up to the Promise even to the very end.”

    “She was imbued with lofty ideals, whose life was spent solely in the
    performance of a noble mission, and whose martyrdom in the hands of the enemy will
    shine forever as a living symbol of the true spirit of the Filipino woman.”

    to engrave upon the hearts of young minds and young hearts. The spirit of Scouting
    the spirit of love, this is the aim of the Escoda Memento Fund.

    As you now share I gather your mementos, let us sing a hymn in honor of
    a great woman whose shining example will forever light our path.
    (All sing the Escoda Memorial Hymn participants and guests who wish to join in the
    offering to the Founder’s Birthday may drop their contribution to the basket)

    O thou Great Founder, champion of Girlhood’s cause


    Come we in homage share as now we pause.
    Grateful are we to thee, in all humanity
    We’ll pray for thy repose in God’s known house.

    Her are thy children blest by thy love and care


    Girl Scouting marches on lured by thy hand
    Faithful and true we’ll be in all activity
    Escoda Mother dear, honor to thee.

    List on to our praising, dear name we all revere


    Our gifts of love we bring pure and sincere
    Thy life our torch and guide, where’re Girl Scouting goes
    Escoda nation’s pride, love and adore.

    CLOSING PRAYER:

    ALL: “ As we close our ceremony, O Lord we ask that we may under Thy Divine
    inspiration gain a widened outlook a clearer vision of all that is before us and of our
    opportunities. Thus, we may then go forward and further with strengthened faith to carry
    on our mission of heightening the ideals of woman- hood and helping through closer
    understanding to bring about Thy happier rule of peace and goodwill upon earth. Hear
    us O Father, AMEN.

    CLOSING SONG:

    We are made for service to care for all men


    Who are made for love both time and again
    A love that will live through sorrow and pain
    A love that will never die with strain.

    God sent His Son to show us the way

    But if man gives himself to help other man
