THE INSIGHT OF GRADE 12 HUMSS STUDENTS Of MEYCAUAYAN NATIONAL HIGH
SCHOOL ON THE INCOMING IMPLEMENTATION OF FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES

Abstract

Covid 19 brings devastation not just in economy, Health and Industry but it also hits the

Academic Health of students. As a result distance learning was implemented not just in the

country but in the world to avoid being infected and continue large numbers of casualties.

Here we present the study focusing on The impact of dissolving Printed modality in

HUMSS(Humanities and Social Sciences) Strand in Meycauayan National High School. It is

important to review this subject for the sake of every student's education. The high cost of

transportation, allowance, and Wifi fees, among other things, can put many people in

financial trouble or a financial shortfall if printed media is phased out. Physical learning, on

the other hand, will provide a significant chance to increase students' learning quality by

reinstating Face to Face classrooms. Physical learning has a significant influence on boosting

the knowledge of pupils who are susceptible to distractions. This study will be beneficial to

Individuals associated in the education system. The purpose of this study was to assess the

present state of senior high school HUMSS. students from Meycauayan National High

School on their favourite subject Modality. The researchers will use a google form survey for

students to fill out in order to collect information. Senior executives would be the responses.

Humanities and Social Sciences are high school students.

As a result of the data gathering we found out that face to face instruction is more effective

than online instruction, Particularly in practice classes, the number of online social work

classes that require face to face or physical exposures.

Based on the results of the literature review and survey of grade 12 students in the

Humanities and Social Sciences strand, the researchers came to the conclusion that it is

4
THE INSIGHT OF GRADE 12 HUMSS STUDENTS Of MEYCAUAYAN NATIONAL HIGH
SCHOOL ON THE INCOMING IMPLEMENTATION OF FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES

harder to attend a face-to-face class or an online class, and that most students answered

average, implying that both are equally difficult.

After all this researchers come up with the recommendations to students and teachers to

improve the academic performance of the Students of Meycauayan National High School.

Introduction

Rationale

Covid19 starts during the last quarter of the year 2019 and it became worse as the Days go

by. We encounter different virus names as the virus continues to mutate and Tortur people in

all aspects of life whether it is financial, Mental, or Physical. We have Coronavirus, Covid19,

Alpha, Omicron and we didn't know if there will be others. June 2020 where the department

of Education announces that the blended modality will be implemented to avoid the students

being infected for we know that schools in the Philippines especially the Public ones are

overcrowded due to small spaces That cater to the students and it will make the virus a lot

more easy to pass from one person to another. March 1, 2022, IATF approves the alert level

one on selected areas in the Philippines it now allows to open different establishments,

Resorts, And public places and it also means that there will be more physical contact activity

as the government allows it. Since the country is now in looser protocols a lot of schools in

support of the Department of Education and Health Are now authorised to have the limited

Face to Face That results in the idea of dissolving the printed modality. We know that the

Printed modality is the only option for some students that can't afford to pay their monthly

5
THE INSIGHT OF GRADE 12 HUMSS STUDENTS Of MEYCAUAYAN NATIONAL HIGH
SCHOOL ON THE INCOMING IMPLEMENTATION OF FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES

wifi bills or don't have any device that can use on distance learning, even though they want to

pursue their learning. That's why they come up choosing printed regardless of more task than

other modality that they must accomplish. We can't deny that the virus is still alive so the

hesitations of parents, as well as the students for their safety, are still in parents' and students'

minds. Dissolving printed modality can put a lot of People in Economic distress or Financial

Shortage Considering the high amount of transportation fee, Allowance, Wifi bills Etc. But

Physical learning will open a big opportunity to improve the quality of learning of the

students through reopening of the Face to Face classes. Physical learning creates a huge

insight in terms of enhancing the knowledge of students who are vulnerable to any sort of

distractions and dont have the capacity to continue their learning in new normal situation.

Statement of The Problem

This study aims to determine The impact of dissolving Printed modality in

HUMSS Strand in Meycauayan National High School.

Researchers also aim to seek the answers for the following questions that can

help to complete the study.

1. What are the factors that might influence the students to choose Face-to- face and how

does it affect their decision?

2. What are the Challenges students might encounter in choosing Face-to-face classes?

2.1 House

2.2 School

2.3 Work

6
THE INSIGHT OF GRADE 12 HUMSS STUDENTS Of MEYCAUAYAN NATIONAL HIGH
SCHOOL ON THE INCOMING IMPLEMENTATION OF FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES

3. How does Face to Face Modality might affect academic performance?

3.1 doing written works, module

3.2 test, and exams

3.3 collaboration with your classmates

3.4 others

4. What are the benefits of Choosing Face to Face?

Significance of the Study

The researchers picked this issue because it is current and relevant. It refers to the

circumstances in which students find themselves in the midst of a pandemic, Education is

one of the industries that is Severely damaged by the pandemic. It is critical to dig for more

information about this subject because online class is the reason why many students avoid

dropping out of school and complete their education. Because it has become the "new

normal" in the United States.

It's also crucial to understand our country's educational system.

Students have been hesitant to employ the Face to Face Modality because of

More physical touch and exposure and they are now permitted under the protocol.

This study will be very important for the Following.

Students - Assist pupils to understand and know what are the disadvantage

7
THE INSIGHT OF GRADE 12 HUMSS STUDENTS Of MEYCAUAYAN NATIONAL HIGH
SCHOOL ON THE INCOMING IMPLEMENTATION OF FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES

and advantages that are printed as well as the face-to-face type of learning. It can help them

to properly weigh on both modalities. And help them to make a good decision in which

modality they may use.

Teachers - This will make every teacher more concerned for their students

especially since we are in the new normal where everything is happening in

the internet verse and also this may help them to distinguish the pulse of every student.

Parents - parents will also benefit from this topic because they will see the

importance as well as the advantages and disadvantages of learning in

actuality with someone who is explaining it and learning by enduring the independent

learning through Digital modality.

Future Researchers - The finding or the result of this study can be a future

Researcher’s reference on making their own research. By using this as a reference we are

hoping that they can make a much more detailed and informative study that can help other

people as well.

Scope and Delimitations of the study

This study aimed to evaluate the current stand of senior high school HUMSS

students at Meycauayan National High School regarding the incoming Face-to-face classes.

This research study will undoubtedly establish the importance of

Learning in a very effective way among senior high school students,

particularly Humanities and Social Sciences students. As a result, pupil’s

Quality of learning for the past 2 years will improve that they may used in

SCHOOL ON THE INCOMING IMPLEMENTATION OF FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES

their tertiary level as well as future jobs that is part of the Humanities and

Social Sciences strand.

To gather information from students, the researchers would be using a google

form survey for the respondents to fill up. The respondents would be senior

high school students under Humanities and Social Sciences strand.

Respondents would be from grade 12. The researchers' ideal respondents is 17. This study

only covered the location inside Meycauayan National High School in Camalig, Meycauayan

Bulacan. Our target

respondents are former or currently Printed and Digital Modality to fulfil the

objective of this research why they are not in favour in Face to Face study or

Approach.

METHODOLOGY

Research Design

The researchers used a mixed method both quantitative and

qualitative design to discover how many senior high

school HUMSS students at Meycauayan National High School were affected by the insight of

reopening The face to face classes. The researchers wanted to see if the preferred modalities

would continue to do so because of implemented face to face classes here at Meycauayan

National High School. The primary purpose of this design was to identify, ask and count the

number of students who desire in face to face classes.

Population and Sample

9
THE INSIGHT OF GRADE 12 HUMSS STUDENTS Of MEYCAUAYAN NATIONAL HIGH
SCHOOL ON THE INCOMING IMPLEMENTATION OF FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES

A simple random sampling method was used in this review. The researcher chose

a simple random sample of 17 students from the Grade 12 Humanities and Social

Science strand of Meycauayan National High School. The respondents will be picked

no matter what their gender. The Researchers will utilise this sort of examining strategy since

a large portion of the students are encountering this same situation. Utilising this technique,

the researchers might have the option to gather the required data to finish their review.

Data Collection Procedure

To achieve the objective, the researchers of this study followed a few strategies. In this

review, Google forms are utilised to accumulate information from the target

population. The researcher arranged a few close-ended and open-ended questions,

which will be answered by the respondents from Grade 12 students in the Humanities

and Social Sciences strand of Meycauayan National High School through an internet

review. An online data collection overview can be obtained by the presence of the

internet, which is extremely helpful since it will assist the respondents with responding to

it in a quick and easy manner, considering the circumstances right now. The internet-based

study is led by means of Google Forms.

Through Google forms, analysts will make organised surveys that will be answered by the

respondents, and they will be inquired as to whether they consent to take an interest before

they reply. After the information assortment has been supported, the analysts will

appropriate these surveys. The time distributed to respondents will be adequate for

them.

10

SCHOOL ON THE INCOMING IMPLEMENTATION OF FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES

Data Analysis Plan

The process used to analyse all of the acquired data is a mixed method approach, specifically

percentage and frequency distribution. The conclusions of the data gathered using this

method are evaluated, presented, and summarised using the mixed method approach. This

strategy was chosen by the researchers because it allows them to arrange and present their

findings.

Research Question #1

Research question asked, How does distance modality affect your academic performance?

Other Than face to face classes?

14
THE INSIGHT OF GRADE 12 HUMSS STUDENTS Of MEYCAUAYAN NATIONAL HIGH
SCHOOL ON THE INCOMING IMPLEMENTATION OF FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES

Based on the gathered data three (3) out of seventeen respondents answered that distance

modality affects their academic performance and they get lower grades than before during

face to face classes. And four (4) out of seventeen respondents said that it might affect their

time management because in distance modality there are many circumstances where work,

house chores, school work, online class and other responsibilities are hard for students to

balance, especially their time. Then five (5) out of seventeen respondents said rather than

depending on their own knowledge and abilities, students are presently going to the internet

for data. It likewise affects students' psychological well-being on the grounds that they are

presently zeroing in on making up for lost time with cutoff times as opposed to learning

because of the strain and stress. Due to an absence of social contribution, students feel

forlorn, disconnected, restless, and discouraged. For three (3) out of seventeen respondent It's

more challenging for them since there are occurrences when they experience issues talking

with their educators since they are habitually occupied when they want help. One of the

issues is likewise the horrible internet, and there are a few perspectives that they don't fathom

in light of the fact that nobody helps them. Also two (2) out of seventeen respondents said

that because of distance learning they are now not active in participating in school activities

unlike before during Face to face.

Research Question #2

Why might you choose face to face classes that you knew would make you better in an

online class? Why or why not?

15
THE INSIGHT OF GRADE 12 HUMSS STUDENTS Of MEYCAUAYAN NATIONAL HIGH
SCHOOL ON THE INCOMING IMPLEMENTATION OF FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES

Based on the gathered data fifteen (15) out of seventeen respondents might not choose face

to face class not because of the pandemic, but because of academic reasons. Another

problem is that they are close to those people who might attend the face to face classes and

they say that they are not socially stable because of the long time lockdown. And two (2) out

of seventeen students said that in face to face classes they might focus more unlike in online

class there are many hindrances in their homes and there would be less interruption than at

home. In a recognizable, conventional homeroom setting, you might feel more quiet and learn

all the more rapidly.

Research Question #3

What do you like about Face to face classes?

Based on the gathered data from seventeen students, respondents four (4) out seventeen

answered that they might choose Face to face classes for their allowance and for the hope that

it will be helpful for them to learn. While from seventeen respondents six (6) of students said

that Face-to-face is actually preferable for them because not all students have access to the

internet or a laptop, and the signal is not always consistent. While four (4) out of seventeen

respondents answered that face to face classes might be more effective in academic learning

than in distance learning. With seventeen responses three (3) of them answered they like face

to face because they might openly participate in school activities and they can socialise with

their friends and classmates.

Research Question # 4

16
THE INSIGHT OF GRADE 12 HUMSS STUDENTS Of MEYCAUAYAN NATIONAL HIGH
SCHOOL ON THE INCOMING IMPLEMENTATION OF FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES

How interested are you in classes between face to face and online classes?

Based on the gathered data three (3) out of seventeen students respond that in face to face

classes the teacher can monitor students attendance unlike in distance learning that student

can manipulate their attendance. And five (5) out of seventeen responses said that in online

classes it was advantageous for them because they can't see each other's appearance if they

want to while in face to face classes they might need to see each other daily and socialize.

With four (4) out seventeen responses that they can comprehend what their teacher is saying

face to face, they can understand the teachings while having fun, and they might be less

stressed since everything is plain to them, the lessons and everything else. However, because

of the network or connection, online classes are challenging. They must study on their own,

which is too difficult; they will not be able to follow the lessons well, and the majority of

students will just pass the requirements without understanding anything. While five (5) out of

seventeen answered that Face to face lessons might make them feel more like a student than

remote learning, and there is effective interaction between teachers and students, so they

might prefer face to face sessions than distance learning. Two (2) out of seventeen

responses said they are more interested in online class because they are used and

content in studying at home.

Discussion

In this paper we have discussed the insight of students on incoming face to face class not

just with the students under the said modality but with the opinions and views of all students

22
THE INSIGHT OF GRADE 12 HUMSS STUDENTS Of MEYCAUAYAN NATIONAL HIGH
SCHOOL ON THE INCOMING IMPLEMENTATION OF FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES

no matter what their type of modality that they have chosen. Through the questionnaire given

by the researchers we have discovered how students are interested in Face to Face modality,

Why they don't choose face to face approach, What they like about face to face and vise

versa.

We discovered that the majority of students might not choose to undergo face to face

modality not because of the situation but because of Health reasons. Another problem is that

they are close to those people who are now attending the face to face classes and they say that

they are not socially stable because of the long time lockdown.

But on the other hand we knew what they like about the face to face class is that face to face

classes will be more effective in academic learning than in distance learning aside from that

they might be given daily allowances that might help them in providing necessities that help

them in learning like art material, notebook Etch. This just proves the claim of K. Stauss, E

Koh M, collie (2018) face to face instruction is more effective than online instruction,

Particularly in practice classes, the number of online social work classes that requires face to

face or physical exposures. And the other researchers. But after the positive responses

coming from some of the students, huge numbers of students of meycauayan National High

School under Senior High School department HUMSS Strand are still in the distance learning

approach.

Our research would indicate that reopening schools (especially secondary schools) are

associated with High numbers of students undergoing distance learning.

Conclusion

23
THE INSIGHT OF GRADE 12 HUMSS STUDENTS Of MEYCAUAYAN NATIONAL HIGH
SCHOOL ON THE INCOMING IMPLEMENTATION OF FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES

Based on the results of the literature review and survey from grade 12 students of

Humanities and Social Sciences strand the researchers reach the conclusion regarding the

questions which might be harder to attend face to face class or online class and most students

answered average means online class and face-to-face classes are both might be equally

hard for them to attend. Based on the gathered data most of the students respond that with the

idea of face to face classes it might be just an average change for them. The idea of Face to

face classes don't bother most of the students, their opinions are both mutual when online

classes and Face-to-face classes are being compared. Based on the researchers' gathered data,

incoming implementation of face- to- face classes might have a good and bad impact for

them as students. On the good side face-to-face might actually be preferable for the students

because not all students have access to the internet or a laptop, and for the signal that is not

always consistent. Unlike in online classes, face to face classes might make them active when

it comes to school activities. But on the contrary, students are already used to this situation of

online learning. Most of the students didn't choose to be part of the incoming face-to-face

implementation because of the concern that it is still not safe because of the Covid 19 . Some

of the reasons for not participating in incoming face-to-face classes is that students are still

not socially stable enough to attend face-to-face classes because they feel comfortable with

less socialization. Also the researchers conclude that most of the students want the incoming

implementation of face- to face classes but because of the situation they are now already used

to depend on the internet where they can get easier access. They think that online classes are

more convenient for them even though they already know that face-to-face classes will be

more effective when it comes to learning.

24
THE INSIGHT OF GRADE 12 HUMSS STUDENTS Of MEYCAUAYAN NATIONAL HIGH
SCHOOL ON THE INCOMING IMPLEMENTATION OF FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES

Recommendation

The Following will be the researchers recommendations

Students - Researchers suggest that choose the most convenient modality where you can

assure that you are learning well. And consider the resources that you have or afford. In line

with this we, the researchers recommend that students must learn how to adapt into any

situations in which case you can fulfil your duty as student.

Teachers - We, the Researchers suggested that lessen the usage of searchable questions in

every exams and quizzes to avoid the usage of the internet of the students for the reason of

students especially in distance learning uses internet to answer the exams in a very easy and

quick way in that case they are not learning as they meant to be. Instead of giving an activity

that they need to use their minds and creativity in that way we may lessen the recorded

cheating of the students.
