I. OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:
1.1. Language knowledge and skills

- improve speaking skills by asking and answering questions about activities at weekends
- develop writing skills by writing sentences using tenses correctly.

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Warm up: (5’)
a) Objectives: First, Ss activate their prior knowledge by brainstorming ideas and thoughts
about the questions. Then, Ss can expand their thoughts by trying out different activities.

Task c. Time expressions.
- Present and explain the time expressions of The
Present simple and The Present continuous
(using IWB/ PPTs):
+ The Present Simple:
• always, usually, every day/week/month/year, etc.
• on Mondays/Tuesdays, etc.
• in the morning/afternoon/evening, etc.
• at night/the weekend, etc.
+ The Present Continuous: now, right now, at the
moment, these days, at present, tonight, tomorrow,
next week/month, etc.
*Stative verbs:
+ Stative verbs are verbs that describe a state
rather than an action and don’t usually have
continuous forms.
+ Stative verbs include:
• verbs of perception (see, hear, feel, smell, taste,
etc.).
• verbs which express feelings and emotions
(desire, enjoy, hate, like, love, prefer, want, etc.).
• verbs of thoughts (know, think, believe, etc.)
• other verbs: agree, be, belong, contain, cost, fit,
have, include, keep, need, owe, own, appear, etc.
This house belongs to my aunt.
* Dynamic verbs are verbs that describe an
action rather than a state and can be in the
continuous forms.
 Activity 2: Practice (10’)
a) Objective: Ss practise using The Present simple and The Present continuous.
b) Content: Tasks 2,3,4
c) Expected outcome: Ss can memorise the form and uses of The Present simple and The Present
continuous.
