THE MARKETING PLAN
This portion is the advertising strategy that a business will implement to sell its

products or service. The marketing plan will help determine who the target market is, how

best to reach them, at what price point the product or service should be sold, and how the

company will measure its efforts.

DESCRIPTION OF PRODUCTS
Buri are handicrafts

woven using the leaves of the

eponymous palm trees

abundantly growing in

Pangasinan's shoreline towns.

The men and women in Marozo

of Narvacan, and in Cadacad of

Nagbukel, Ilocos Sur work

together to produce the most

beautiful handmade pieces of art.

The

buri leaves are carefully dried under the sun until

light brown and malleable. Afterwards, the buri are

cut into strips of uniform width, then either dyed or

left in their natural color, and rolled into spools for

storage.

5|Page.JCABALCE&ATEANO
The creation of just a piece of buri is a meticulous and delicate process that can take anywhere

from a day to an entire week. Each one is unlike the other, since everything is done solely by hand

and by its weaver.

The bond between the handicraft and its maker is an intimate one: the interlocking strips are

similar to the unpredictable twists and turns of life, but the interlace makes the buri strong, beautiful,

and complete. Since the enterprise is women-dominated, the handicrafts empower housewives,

mothers, and ladies to express themselves through their God-given talent of creating buri handicraft.

The laborers and workers can make buri bags, hats, wedding souvenirs, baskets, and virtually

anything that a customer may ask for. Depending on the complexity of a design, a buri handicraft may

be priced at P75.00 to P200.00 apiece.

The group offers pick-up for individual orders and delivery for wholesale orders.

Marketing Strategies

Buri handicrafts are displayed on highways which is one of the strategies of the

business. This will attract passersby and promotes easy channel for the customers.

Products are also displayed on exhibitions and trade fairs that could make Buri

handicrafts popular to people.

With the help of LGU – Narvacan, the business will be easily known worldwide for

the office will provide subsidies and additional support for marketing. Having it advertise in

TV, the prices of Buri handicrafts depend on the size and use. It starts with seventy-five pesos

(P75) up to one thousand pesos (P1,000). The business is accepting made-to-order products

and customized

6|Page.JCABALCE&ATEANO
Buri handicrafts and Radio Broadcast, Facebook, YouTube and other mentioned

customers worldwide. It is not only through word of mouth but the business has been utilizing

BUSINESS PRACTICES AND SAFETY MEASURES

The work area is shaded but well ventilated. Safety is a case of common sense, but a

few pointers are in order.

 Learn the right techniques. Learn all you can about the materials and techniques you’re using.

 Look for safer alternatives. Look into the potential hazards before trying (or buy) new arts and

crafts materials.

 Keep materials in their original place.

 Follow safety instructions. Always follow the safety instructions on the label.

 Do arts and crafts in an area where the air circulates well.

 Install a smoke detector in work area. Keep a fire extinguisher close by.

 Know emergency numbers. All hotline numbers should posted inside the workplace.

13 | P a g e . J C A B A L C E & A T E A N O
 Use protective equipment. This includes:

o goggles or prescription eyeglasses to protect your eyes from splashes or small objects

o earplugs to protect against loud noises

o rubberized gloves and proper garments to avoid getting scratches on skin

o dust masks or respirators to prevent breathing in dust or fumes

o any other equipment recommended in product instructions

 Remove contact lenses when working. They can trap dust, which could damage eyes. Use your

prescription glasses instead.

 Keep arts and crafts materials away from food and drink. You will reduce the risk of

swallowing dangerous materials by mistake.

 Wash hands (and clothing, if needed) after you finish working.

 Store carefully. Keep hazardous materials out of the sight and reach of children and pets.

 Dispose of materials carefully. Contact municipal waste facility for information on safe

disposal of any hazardous materials.

Our buri handicrafts' shop is laid out so as to minimize the amount of movement needed to

work efficiently. All the tools needed for a particular operation are ready and close at hand.
