Nozzle selection
Foam nozzle: For cleaning chemicals with foaming properties – generates thick
foam.
Standard nozzle: For all other cleaning chemicals – extends the reach of the spray
without foaming. The Standard nozzle can also be used for washing
down if needed. The standard nozzle should also be used to apply
Slip Coat at elevated areas. Ensure to move steady sideways to
avoid too thick layers and to avoid over consumption.
Slip-Coat nozzle: For temporary hold coatings – thin and even spray but a very short
range. The Standard nozzle can be used for longer reach.

Cleaning operation
Step 1 – Dry cleaning
• Sweep and muck out as much residue as possible before any liquid is used for
cleaning.
NOTE: Always wear personal protection equipment (PPE) when working with chemicals. Refer
to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for full information. Always fill water in the container before
poring chemical into the tank.
• Follow all instructions on the chemical product data sheet (PDS) and the Safety Data
Sheet (SDS). Premix the chemical solution in an empty clean container. Wear personal
protection equipment according to SDS and ensure proper ventilation.
• Use a 200L drum or a similar container (not included in the kit).
• Submerge the suction hose (5) into the drum.
• Start the pumps by opening ships air supply.
• Gradually open the air and chemical ball valves on the lance, adjust both to achieve
optimal range and foaming.
NOTE: Do not let the chemical dry out on the surface. If chemicals dry out, apply more of
the same chemical that dried out to dissolve it.
• We recommend the use of High Pressure cleaner or a Tornado 3 (not supplied in the
Compact Kit) for cleaning of the hold, however if this is not available you can use the
cargo hold cleaning kit for this purpose as follows:
• Refill the 200 ltr drum with FRESH water.
• Replace the Foam nozzle with the Standard nozzle.
• Flush the surface until no foaming occurs when water hits the surface.
13
Step 4 – Applying temporary hold coating
NOTE:
Slip Coat is a ready to use product and must not be mixed with water or diluted.
The air valve on the lance is not to be used during Slip Coat application (for long
reach and if use with Standard Nozzle the air valve must be open to ensure
sufficient reach).
• Ensure that the drum to be used for Slip-Coat is thoroughly cleaned and rinsed for all
chemical residues.
• Insert the Liquid suction hose (5) into the drum filled with Slip-Coat.
NOTE: Apply the hold coating in as thin layer as possible. To reach elevated areas it is
recommended to use the Standard Nozzle. The consumption increases so the operator must
move lance in a fast systematic pattern.
IMPORTANT! Pump at least 100L of FRESH water through the whole system including the
chemical delivery hose and the lance, as well as all nozzles.

Aquatuff High Foam – high foaming alkaline cleaner
Aquatuff High Foam is a heavy duty alkaline cleaner with good foaming qualities specially
formulated for cleaning cargo holds on bulk carriers and OBOs. The dense foam created
prevents the cleaning solution from running off vertical surfaces and thereby enhances the
cleaning efficiency. It is water based and is safe to the environment, containing only
biodegradable ingredients. It effectively removes most dry cargoes to “water white standard”.
Aquatuff High Foam is specially developed for cargo hold cleaning, but may also be used for
other cleaning applications where Aquatuff normally is used but where high foam is
beneficial.

Slip-Coat – temporary cargo barrier
Slip-Coat is a water based liquid product specially formulated to leave a thin, temporary film
on cargo hold surfaces. The film provides a barrier between the cargo and the cargo hold
surfaces making the cleaning operation after unloading quicker and easier, and optimal
cleaning result is achieved. Slip-Coat is safe to the environment and to the personnel handling
it, and will not contaminant the cargo. It is non-corrosive and safe on all coatings.
How it works
After drying, Slip-Coat creates a thin, non-sticky film on the cargo hold surfaces. The film
substantially facilitate the cleaning before next cargo in two ways: 1. The film fills the minute
pores in the surface, and prevents that small particles are trapped in the pores. 2. Small,
solid particles can be very difficult to remove especially from organic coatings, even with the
use of effective cleaning agents and high pressure water jets. The reason is the build-up of
electromagnetic forces, and sometimes the only way to remove the particles is by
scrubbing. Slip-Coat provides a barrier between the particles and the surface that minimize
this problem, and the particles may now be removed with high pressure water only. The film
is completely water soluble and is easy to remove even with cold sea water. To avoid re-
deposition of contaminants a cleaning agent should be used, but at lower dosage rates than
what normally is required. Slip-Coat may also be sprayed on deck, superstructure and other
areas exposed to dust during loading and unloading operations.

Coatings: No known effect.
Rubber: No known effect.

Slip-Coat Plus– water proof temporary cargo barrier
Slip Coat Plus is a liquid, waterborne protective barrier designed to perform maximum
protection and efficiency during transport and unloading operations. This product is specially
formulated to fill the minute pores in paintwork and leave a dense temporary water resistant
film on cargo hold surfaces. When cured the protective film will act as a barrier between the
cargo and cargo hold surfaces thus preventing cargo deposits from stubbornly adhering to
the surfaces. The nature of the film makes it ideal for cargoes loaded in damp or wet conditions
as well as preventing cargo from sticking to the surface caused by moisture build- up during
the voyage. Slip Coat Plus can be used in cargo holds carrying foodstuff and is safe to the
environment and to the personnel handling it. It is non-corrosive and safe on all coatings.
How it works
After drying, Slip-Coat Plus creates a thin, non-sticky water proof film on the cargo hold
surfaces. The film substantially facilitate the cleaning before next cargo in two ways: 1. The
film fills the minute pores in the surface, and prevents that small particles are trapped in the
pores. 2. Small, solid particles can be very difficult to remove especially from organic coatings,
even with the use of effective cleaning agents and high pressure water jets. The reason is the
build-up of electromagnetic forces, and sometimes the only way to remove the particles is by
scrubbing. Slip-Coat Plus provides a barrier between the particles and the surface that
minimize this problem, and the particles may now be removed with high pressure water
only. The film is completely water soluble and is easy to remove even with cold sea water.
To avoid re- deposition of contaminants a cleaning agent should be used, but at lower
dosage rates than what normally is required.
To achieve optimal protection the cargo hold surfaces should be as clean and dry as
possible before treatment with Slip Coat Plus. The ready-to use concentration makes it
ideal for application directly from the drum by use of suitable low-pressure spraying
equipment.
Do not apply more than necessary, one single application is sufficient and will cover 10–20
m2/ltr depending on the condition of the cargo holds. Allow the film to dry completely before
loading the cargo a process which takes 1-2 hours depending on air temperature and
humidity.
After drying, Slip Coat Plus creates a dense, non-sticky film on the cargo hold surfaces.
After cargo discharge, both the film and cargo residues are easily removed by the use of
an alkaline cleaner like Aquatuff or Aquatuff High Foam. A 10% solution in fresh water is
recommended, leave for 15-30 minutes and finally flush with clean high pressure water.
After flushing with water, let the surfaces dry and then repeat the treatment with applying
Slip Coat Plus before the next cargo.
NOTE! The lowest application temperature for Slip Coat Plus is +5oC.
