Intended Learning Outcomes

At the end of this activity, the FS student must be able to achieve the following intended learning outcomes:

1. identify the strategies used by the teacher that promotes numeracy skills, literacy skills, higher order thinking
skill;
2. take an account on various strategies employed by the teacher; and
3. observe and categorize classroom communication strategies employed by the teacher that support learners’
maximum involvement and greater accomplishment.

LEARNING OVERVIEW:

Activity 1. focus on the pedagogical content knowledge that recognizes the importance of teachers’
mastery of content knowledge and its interconnectedness within and across curriculum areas, coupled with a
sound and critical understanding of the application of theories and principles of teaching and learning. This
activity further encompasses teachers’ ability to apply developmentally appropriate and meaningful pedagogy
grounded on content knowledge and pedagogy. It takes into account teachers’ proficiency in Mother Tongue,
Filipino and English in the teaching and learning process, as well as needed skills in the use of communication
strategies, teaching strategies, and technologies to promote high-quality learning outcomes.

 The teacher encouraged the learners to participate by raising their hands if the
teacher asks them to recite by that way, they could be able to enhance their

4. What communication skills were utilized by the teacher during the teaching-learning process?

 The communication skills were utilized by the teacher during the teaching-learning process
are first, he is good listener wherein he actively listens to the insights of his learners and
clarify ambiguities by rephrasing their answers if needed for greater understanding. He also
consistently assesses if the learners are still going along the discussion or if they understand
the topic.
 Second, his body language is appropriate by having a relaxed body stance with a friendly
tone that making him appropriate. Third, he is confident on what he is saying as he
maintains eye contact, maintaining a relaxed body stance, and talking with concision. Lastly,
he respects what his learners have to say, and he acknowledge or give compliment.

 The learners respond to the communication strategies of the teacher by raising their hands
whenever they want to recite and give their insights about the topic. They follow the
classroom rules that was impose by the teacher.

Procedure Strategies/Techniques
Motivation Based on the class observation the teacher build relationship with the students in recalling the
previous lesson and to prepare them for the new lesson.

Presentation of the lesson During the presentation of the lesson, the teacher showed creativity to widen the imagination
of the students. He made creative effective presentation because it delivered prepared and
formal way. The teacher uses a PowerPoint presentation for the students to follow the flow of
the lesson being taught.

Development of the lesson The students find the lesson very exciting throughout the discussion with the help of their
energetic teacher and the teaching strategies that have been used, like the creative instinct
materials, to let the students participate actively.

Generalization/ Closure/ Drawing insights He kept learners engaged in every discussion through the interactive learning, this helped the
students to retain on their minds about the lesson that had been discussed surely because of
the collaborative with their classmates.

Enrichment/ Application/Fixing Skills Throughout the discussion I observed the students who are actively participating from the
beginning and the students who are not really into participating, maybe because of the
diverse learning capacity of each student but then, the energy of the class especially the
teacher helped to motivate the other students to participate and collaborate with their
classmates.

Assessment/evaluation When it comes to assessment/evaluation this includes the oral recitation to test if the lesson
has been truly understood and retain on the student’s mind. At the end of the discussion, the
teacher gave an activity that will measure students’ understanding about the lesson.

Agreement/Assignment As usual agreement of the students and the teacher, the students asked to read or to have
initial ideas regarding to next lesson.

Are the learning principles applied by the teacher appropriate with the nature of the learners and learning conditions?
Why or why not?
 Yes, the learning principles applied by the teacher is appropriate with the nature of the learners and
learning conditions because he begins with the setting of clear and high expectations of learning
outcomes. Moreover, the teaching-learning process is student centered wherein the teacher
established a learning environment that encourages active engagement to helps students develop an
understanding of their own as learners. He also applies the principle that is the discovery of personal
meaning and relevance of ideas wherein he respects the insights of his learners on they understand or
construct their own meaning. Lastly, the teacher appropriate applied an environment that is sensitive
to individual differences among the learners, including their prior knowledge

Did you observe passive learners? If yes, what might be their reasons why they are passive/silent?
 Yes, I observed passive learners. For this reason, some of them are reluctant or hesitant to share their
ideas about the topic. There are some students who are not raising their hands to recite, especially
when the teacher wants someone to read the text in the presentation and share their insights. They
just tend to listen to their active classmates and participate in the discussion.

Are the communication strategies used by the teacher appropriate to the level of the learners? Justify your answer.
 The communication strategies used by the teacher is appropriate to the level the learners because he
utilized words in the discussion that the learners could easily understand the topic. He respects the
opinions or insights of the learners wherein he considers the level of understand and clarify
ambiguities by rephrasing their answers if needed for greater understanding.

4 If you are the teacher, what possible learning principle(s) and strategy(ies) would you apply to elicit meaningful
learning?
 If I were the teacher, the possible learning principle/s or strategy/ies that I would apply to 7
elicit meaningful learning are first, enhancing the atmosphere of cooperation and
collaboration so that the learners could collectively share their insights and learn from their
peers. Second, providing activities that considers the individual differences of the learners
according to their learning styles and multiple intelligences. Lastly, making strategies that
can increase the motivation of the learners by making clear of my objectives; engaging my
students in self-assessment; practicing criterion-referenced assessment rather than norm-
referenced assessment; inspiring my students to have mastery focus rather than
performance focus; and encouraging them to have “growth mindset”
Reflect

1. Among the principles of learning, which one is the most important for you? Substantiate your answer.

 For me to become an effective teacher you need all these principles of learning to serve
total knowledge and be able to give the best learning experience for my student. That’s why
I need all the and not just one principle. For each principle we must incorporate necessary
teaching techniques to ensure active participation, collaboration and lastly the learning
environment that is appropriate for the learners.

2. What insight did you learn from the class activities that you have observed?

 I’ve learned that I should maintain a positive approach in learning. Keep learners engaged in
every activity and make sure that all your learners can actively participate in and gain
knowledge. We must consider the relevance of the activity to your topic or lesson. I must
also contemplate our learner’s diversity when it comes to their learning capabilities.
