READERS’ THEATRE PIECE

“THE NO. 1 SEARCH ENGINE”

CHRACTERS:
1. GOOGLE
2. YAHOO
3. BING
4. ASK
5. DUCK DUCK GO
6. FACEBOOK
7. YOUTUBE
8. TWITTER
9. INSTAGRAM
10. SNAPCHAT
11. NARRATOR

Narrator: Once upon a time, there was a place called Search Engine Cloud. This place is so
advanced that whatever you need and want to know will be answered in a split second.
However, no matter how good and advanced this place is, a group of search engines always
take charge to compete and fight each other for the title of the no. 1 search engine in the
Cloud. These guys have been friends before, but because there is competition for being the
no.1 search engine, they become enemies.

Google: Goo… goo... goo… I am the No.1 search engine! Everyone knows me and uses me
to search. My mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally
accessible and useful to everybody. That's why Search makes it easy to discover a broad
range of information from various sources. Goo… goo... goo…

Yahoo: Yuhhh-hoooooo! In your dreams, google. I'm the no.1 search engine here because I
am an Internet portal that incorporates a search engine and organizes the hierarchy of topics. I
give reassurance of a structured view of hundreds of thousands of Web sites and millions of
Web pages online. Yuh-hoooooo!

Bing: Bing-gooww! You are all wrong. It is me who is the no.1 search engine here because
my service has its origins in Microsoft's previous search engines: like MSN Search, Windows
Live Search, and later Live Search. I also provide various search services, including web,
video, image, and map search products. : Bing-grow!

Duck-duck go: Quack, quack, quack. I am an internet search engine that emphasizes
protecting searchers' privacy and avoiding the filter bubble of personalized search results. I
am the no.1 here because I protect my users' privacy. That is why they like me. Quack,
quack, quack.

Facebook: Bogsh, bogsh, bogsh! We are now in a new era; people like to see the things they
want to know. I, a search engine and a website that allows my users, who sign-up for free
profiles, to connect with friends, work with colleagues or people they don't know online. I
allow my users to share pictures, music, videos, and articles, as well as their thoughts and
opinions, with however many people they like. I am the no.1 here! Bosh, bosh, bosh
YouTube: Ehh.. ehhh… ehh., you make me laugh, Facebook. If we're talking about how
effective we are, I beat you all because I am a free video-sharing website that makes it easy to
watch online videos. You can even create and upload your videos to share with others. People
learn more through audio and visuals, and I have visitors watching around 6 billion hours of
video every month. Ehh.. ehhh… ehh.

Instagram: Am.. am.. am.. If people are primarily audio and visual learners, then I am the
no.1 here. They use me to search because I am a free photo and video-sharing app available
on iPhone, Android, and Computers. People can upload photos or videos to my service and
share them with their followers or with a select group of friends. They can also view,
comment, and like posts shared by their friends on me. Am.. am.. am..

Twitter: Twit, twit, twit… it's time for you to realize that I am the no.1 search engine and
social media here because I give service to friends, family, and coworkers to communicate
and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent messages. People post Tweets,
which may contain photos, videos, links, and text accessible to everyone if they want to
search. Twit, twit, twit…

Snapchat: Snap it, Guys! What are you all doing? Why are we fighting each other? I am a
phone app that allows users to send photos and videos (called snaps) to other users. They also
use me to search for information, especially related to people, but why do we need to fight
just because we want to be the no.1 search engine here? Where we all shine in our ways, we
have our purpose and value to the people. We don't need to fight. Remember, we are all
friends, and friends don't fight and destroy others but must help and aid one another cause we
are all connected.

Ask: That's right! We are connected by our passion for helping people look for the things
they want to know, and we, as a search engine, must do our job to give the right, accurate and
honest information. So let's stop it now because I miss you all and our “marites” time. Tsk..
tsk.. tsk..
All: Let's go guys. It’s marites time!

Narrator: And that's the end of their story. They become close friends again and help one
another.
