MATHEMATICS
CH5. UNDERSTANDING ELEMNTRY SHAPES.
ANGLES AND ITS TYPES
RIGHT ANGLE:
If the angle made by the lines is equal to 90degree is called as right
angle.
ACUTE ANGLE:
An angle smaller than a right angle(90 degree) is called an acute
angle.
OBTUSE ANGLE:
An angle greater than a right angle(90 degree) is called an
obtuse angle
REFLEX ANLGE:
An angle more than 180 degree is called as reflex angle.
Perpendicular Lines
If two lines intersect and the angle between them is a right angle, then the
lines are said to be perpendicular. If a line AB is perpendicular to CD, we write
AB ^ CD.
Classification of Triangles
Naming triangles based on sides
A triangle having all three unequal sides is called a Scalene Triangle
A triangle having two equal sides is called an Isosceles Triangle
A triangle having three equal sides is called an Equilateral Triangle
QUADRILATERAL:
Quadrilateral is a polygon which has four sides.
PROPERTIES OF SQUARE:
All the sides are equal
Diagonals are equal
Diagonals of the square are perpendicular to one another.
Opposite sides are parallel.
Opposite angles are equal
PROPERTIES OF RECTANGLE:
Opposite sides are parallel and equal
Diagonals are equal
opposite angles are equal
PROPERTIES OF PARLLELOGRAM
Opposite sides are parallel and equal.
Opposite angles are equal.
PROPERTIES OF RHOMBUS:
Opposite sides are parallel and equal
All the sides are equal
Diagonals are equal and perpendicular to one another.
PROPERTIES OF TRAPEZIUM:
One pair of opposite sides are parallel.
POLYON:
A polygon is a two-dimensional geometric figure that has a finite number of
sides.
