    BACKGROUND
    AMERICAN COLONIAL DESIGN
    American Colonial is an interior design style that combines rugged handcrafted furniture from
    the early American frontier, New England replicas of Jacobean and Puritan furniture, and
    Americanized adaptations of formal English and European styles.
    This design style began in the mid-1600s and lasted until the end of the 1700s.
    This design was popular up until the 19th century; may be seen in residences, churches, and
    government buildings.
    Authenticity in design and simple lifestyles portrayed these early settlers.
    The colonial Americans believed that color derived from whatever they discovered in nature.

    This type of style is usually categorized into two periods:


    Early Colonial furniture
    Late Colonia furniture

    The three basic characteristics of an American colonial house are:


    1. paneling made of wood;
    2. fireplaces;
    3. as well as exposed beams.

    INTERIOR STYLES PROS AND CONS


    There are several interior styles that may be OF COLONIAL HOMES
    found in American colonial dwellings. The
    following are the most frequent styles:
    PROS:
    -Ideal for entertaining
    Georgian: Characterized by high ceilings,
