Survey Report:
A survey that was conducted by a grade 11 STEM students revealed that fifty out
of fifty respondents from Senior High School Students ages 16-20 years old from different
schools, although majority are from Iloilo National High School, are fully aware and are
recently experiencing health concerns related to prolonged screen time and exposure to
gadgets. The respondents were given a chance to choose everything that applies from the
given choices the health concern they are experiencing and 42 (82%) chose Digital Eye
Strain, 44 (88%) chose Lack of Quality Sleep, 31 (62%) chose Headache, 32 (64%) chose
Pain in the Neck, 20 (40%) chose Repetitive Strain Injuries, and 11 (22%) Chose Macular
Degeneration.
The new educational system, caused by the pandemic, severely influenced not only
senior high school and students currently learning through online means, but also those
who are opted for printed materials as they still use gadgets to aid them in their learning. It
has been a great challenge since that 22% of the respondents experience Macular
teens, are usually prone to this. That number signifies a big change in biological means.
