glucose?
(ii) What structural change will occur when a native protein is subjected to change in pH ?.
SECTION C
This section contains 7 questions with internal choice in one question. The following questions
are short answer type and carry 3 marks each.
22. (i) On the basis of CFT, write the electronic configuration for d5 if ∆o < P and nature of complex
based on spin of electrons.

(c) Shape of the complex (d) Denticity of ligand ethane -1,2-di-amine
23. (i) Suggest a way to determine the Λ0 m value of water.
(ii) The cell constant of a conductivity cell is 0.146 cm-1. What is the conductivity of 0.01 M
solution of an electrolyte at 298 K, if the resistance of the cell is 1000 ohm?
(iii) An electrochemical cell converts the chemical energy released during the redox reaction
to electrical energy: Zn(s) + Cu2+(aq) ⟶ Zn2+(aq) + Cu(s)
It gives an electrical potential of 1.1V when concentration Zn2+ and Cu2+ ions is unity. State
the direction of flow of current and also specify whether zinc and copper are deposited or
dissolved at their respective electrodes when an external potential of greater than 1.1𝑉 is
applied.
24. (i) Write IUPAC name of the following-
C6H5O(CH2)6 – CH3
(ii) Give the major products that are formed by heating each of the following ethers with HI
a)
b)
(a) Account for the two specific rotation values with suitable explanation
(b) What is the specific name given to sucrose based on the above observation?
(ii) One of the products formed during the hydrolysis of sucrose is a glucose that reacts
with Br2 water to give compound A. Identify compound A.
27. Primary alkyl halide C4H9Br (A) reacted with alcoholic KOH to give compound (B).
Compound (B) is reacted with HBr to give (C) which is an isomer of (A). When (A) is
reacted with sodium metal it gives compound C8H18 which is different from the
compound formed when n-butyl bromide is reacted with sodium.
Give the structural formula of (A) and write the equations for (A) to (B) and then (B) to (C)
28. The rate of a reaction quadruples when the temperature changes from 293 K to 313 K.
Calculate the energy of activation of the reaction assuming that it does not change with
temperature. (Given R = 8.314 JK-1mol-1) log4= 0.6021
SECTION-D
The following questions are case based questions. Each question has an internal choice
and carries 4(1+1+2) marks each .Read the passage and answer the questions that follow.
29 .Products of electrolysis depend on the nature of material being electrolysed and the type of
electrodes being used. If the electrode is inert (e.g., platinum or gold), it does not participate in the
chemical reaction and acts only as source or sink for electrons. On the other hand, if the electrode is
reactive, it participates in the electrode reaction. Thus, the products of electrolysis may be different for
reactive and inert. The amount of chemical reaction which occurs at any electrode during electrolysis by a
current is proportional to the quantity of electricity passed through the electrolyte (solution or melt) The
standard electrode potentials are very important and we can extract a lot of useful information from them.
The values of standard electrode potentials for some selected half-cell reduction reactions are given in
electrochemical series. If the standard electrode potential of an electrode is greater than zero then its
reduced form is more stable compared to hydrogen gas. Similarly, if the standard electrode potential is
negative then hydrogen gas is more stable than the reduced form of the species.
(i) How many coulombs are required to reduce 1 mole Cr2O72- to Cr3+
(ii) Predict the products of electrolysis of Dilute AgNO3 solution using Silver
electrodes? OR
Write cell reactions involved in a Fuel cell
