Technical Data Sheet

Hydropalat® WE 3221

general  silicone surfactant to improve substrate wetting in aqueous systems

 excellent substrate wetting in aqueous industrial, wood, automotive
and exterior paints and coatings and printing inks
 strong reduction of surface tension
 no increase of surface slip
 minor impact on inter coat adhesion and recoatability

chemical nature blend of organically modified polysiloxane (silicone surfactant) with

dipropylene glycol monomethyl ether

Properties

physical form clear colorless, low-viscosity liquid

storage Hydropalat® WE 3221 should be stored in tightly closed containers and

in a cool place.

typical properties Solid content ~ 45 %

density (DIN 51757) ~ 1.00 g/cm3
color (Gardener) max. 2

Application

Hydropalat® WE 3221 shows strong reduction of surface tension in

water based systems. Therefore it is highly suitable to improve
substrate wetting and to prevent surface defects. It is recommended as
an anti-crater additive with good recoatability. Furthermore
Hydropalat® WE 3221 can be used in UV-curable formulations to
improve flow and leveling.
Based on a short chain organically modified polysiloxane Hydropalat®
WE 3221 does not increase surface slip.

recommended concentrations A dosage of 0.2 – 1.0% (as supplied) calculated on total formulation is
recommended.
