Heartbreaker/Target

Golgotha. #9671.£4.95/$9.95

Coming straight from the pages of Target/Heartbreakers first and highly successful comic book of the same name.
Golgotha has to be one of the finest miniatures that I have come across in the past twenty years and is in my own opinion
the best that Heartbreaker have released to date.

The miniature just cries out to be assembled and painted and is defiantly a must have for any Warzone player. Standing
at almost three inches tall, the miniature is comprised of a number of tentacle like appendages which fit into the main body
(single cast piece) with very little difficulty as they are all numbered. And once the simple job of assembling the miniature
is over its time to get down to the fun part of painting her.

There are a lot of images of Golgotha in the comic book and also in Casualties of War, Targets third compendium for
Warzone, so painting isn't that much of a problem. The animation of the piece is first class and the sculptor as managed
to capture the sinister aura of the character and still maintain the seductiveness at the same time. In game terms
Golgotha has the ability to spellbind any male character with her beauty and they must remain motionless. This is an
excellent miniature and will be the focal (and talking!) point of any army of Algeroth. Golgotha is rumoured to be a fallen
Valkyrie and although her past is shrouded in mystery, her future plans to take over from her master, Algeroth, are not.
She is trying to amass as much power as she can in order for her plans to see fruition. As a Nepharite of the Dark Lord
she is gifted with lots of special powers and equipment, and this is where the appendages you’ve placed on the miniature
come into play. They form the Horitsa’s Spine an ancient artefact that is so powerful that its never been used to its full
extent. In game terms she can use it to heal herself or cast a Dark Symmetry spell.

Got to be my favourite miniature in the range and the best in this months batch.

Stahler. #9678 £3.95/$8.95

Once again from the comic book Golgotha we find her semi human cohort, Lord Marshal Erwin Stahler. Stahler is her
right hand man and he himself is trying to get more power as he wishes to become a god. Greed and his lust for power
motivate one of the highest members in the Bauhaus Corporation, Stahler, so much so that his eternal soul is damned.
The miniature representation of Stahler comes in the form of two very well crafted figures. One is the man in is normal
human guise, looking every bit the part of a Bauhaus official and the other is the more sinister True Form.

Both miniatures are very nice and well animated. The standard figure is holding out a pistol and the likeness to the comic
book character is excellent. But the real gem in the pack is the True Form. Comprising of the main body and two very
lethal looking arms (covered in spines) this figure is very nasty looking and many of my gamers have commented about
the similarity to this and one of Games Workshops Genestealers. I myself find it a nice miniature but I can see the point
they make. Assembly of the True Form is simple a matter of attaching the arms and the two mandible like appendages to
the figure and your ready to rock and roll. Stats for both of Stalhers forms can be found in Casualties of War, along with
painting details.

Ragathol: #9677 £3.95/$7.95

Ragathol is a lesser Nepharite of Algeroth. But he aims to change that. He is more cunning than Golgotha, but unlike
his rival, he’s a complete and utter coward and will always back down if any of his plotting is revealed.

The miniature of Ragathol is not up to the usual standard of Heartbreaker’s excellent Warzone range and seems a little
bland in its pose and animation. Granted the miniature is large and if given a decent paint job could look very effective on
the tabletop. But I feel that there is something lacking from this release and I just cant seem to put my finger on it.
It’s a large single cast figure and the stance is perhaps the reason I don’t feel it works. With such a large model you need
to have a great deal of animation or it doesn’t seem to flow properly. Standing with one hand on a huge (the height of a
normal Warzone miniature!) sword, the Blade of Lost Souls, and the other at his side, he seems regal but not imposing
as with the Alakhai miniature (another Nepharite, released last year!). The attention to detail is also somewhat lacking
here, but its none the less well sculpted.

Rules for Ragathol can be found in Casualties of War.

Razide#2. #9675(Replaces 9604) £3.45/$5.95.

A reissue and a re-sculpt of one of Heartbreakers most popular miniatures. The newest version of the Razide is a huge
and chunky looking figure and towers over its predecessor. Comprised of just two parts (main body and the huge
Nazgaroth gun) this miniature is far superior to the original. I did however find that the arm holding the weapon needs a
bit of bending and coaxing to line up with its mate, and then you still need to fill the joining gap with a little body putty. But
once painted this is completely unnoticeable.

My only real gripe with this miniature is the fact that its front heavy, and unless weighted at the rear of the miniature (a
coin under the base works fine) as a habit of falling face down. The animation of the piece is by far better than the
previous model and the creature looks very mean and ready to blow your opponents away.

Acolytes of Algeroth. #9537/9883. £3.95/£1.25/$8.95/$2.95.

The lowest of the Secret Kohorts of Algeroth. These poor creatures were once human, until they joined in the ranks of
the Dark Legion and began the path to damnation. They are cultists and often infiltrate normal society where they can
cause a lot of untold damage. The Secret Kohorts are spilt into distinctive groups with the Acolytes being at the bottom
rung on the ladder to ruin.

Its surprising that although they are just the basic rank and file troops of the Kohorts, the Acolytes are among the best
looking of the miniatures. Each of the basic poses in the Multi Packs is excellent in both detail and its animation. The
poses that the figures are in are very dynamic and look very natural (a very hard thing to capture in miniatures!) and each
of them is armed with the standard weapons of the corporation they are infiltrating thus making them quite hard in some
respects, (the samples I received are in fact armed with Invader Assault Rifles and the heavy with a Charger) and each of
them is dressed in the cowls that all of the Kohorts wear.

The Heavy weapons trooper is very nice and is posed in firing stance, as if he has just braced his Charger to let lose a
deadly volley. These would make excellent cultist for any Sci-fi game and are excellent as rank and file troops in your
Warzone forces.

Initiates #9538/#9884. £3.95/£1.25/$8.95/$2.95

The next step up in the Kohorts is the Initiates. These are men and women who are further down the path to damnation
and are totally loyal to their dark masters. Each of the miniatures in the Multi Pack is dressed in the long flowing cowls of
the Kohorts and are armed with Invader rifles. The figures are more detailed than the Acolytes, as they are covered with
designs of Algeroth and lots of chains.
The animations is good (though not as fluid as the Acolytes) and all are posed in a natural stance. The heavy weapons
trooper is armed with the old favorite the Ghenna Pukka, and he is a little more ornate than his battle brethren. All the
Initiates are wearing a evil looking face mask that is in the image of Algeroth, the rictus type grin sets them apart from
the Acolytes and gives them a little more character.

Sacristans #9539/9885. £3.95/£1.25/$8.95/$2.95

The final stage in the Kohorts is the Sacristans. These are poor souls who have gone to far down the path of damnation
and are starting to suffer the degenerative effects of exposure to such evil. Dressed in the same robes and cowls as the
other Kohorts but with even more ornate work on their armor and more ornate masks.

The Sacristans are among the elite of the Kohorts, and will make up the numbers of Dark Legion troops against the
others forces in the game. All of the miniatures are well sculpted and are armed with the same weapons as the Initiates
(including the heavy weapons trooper.). Animation is good and detail is very crisp and clear. The rules for all of the
Kohorts can be found in the second Warzone compendium Beasts of War.

Scorpion#9673.£3.45/$6.95
Leaving the Dark Legion forces alone for a while, and turning to the often under rated Cybertronic Corporation. Among
the latest releases is the Scorpion. This is an AI (Artificial Intelligence) and its battlefield role is to take out enemy targets
before they can bring their weapons to bear on the Cybertronic troops. Its equipped with the Obliterator, a long range
Grenade Launcher and a devastating Stinger in its tail.

There is no doubt that this is an impressive model right from the off. It consists of four parts (body, arm, tail, and shield)
and goes together without any trouble or filler at all. Once assembled the whole miniature stands almost twice as tall as a
standard Warzone miniature and looks quite good. The detail on the figure is very good and its posed in a crouching
stance giving it a insectiod look.

Cybertronic seem to always be the last to get new miniatures, but the wait is often as in this case worth it. My main force
in Warzone is Cybertronic and I was very pleased to see this and cant wait to attack my opponents with it next time I use
my Cybertronic force. Rules for this and the rest of the Cybertronic releases this month can be found in Casualties of
War.

Cybertronic Shock Troops.#9536/#9879/#9880/#9881. £3.95/$8.95/£1.25/$2.95

Good miniatures are like Buses. You can wait ages for one to come, then suddenly a dozen or so come along at once.
The same can be said about the latest Cybertronic releases for Warzone. Not one, or even two new ranges this month
but three! I couldn’t believe it! But anyway back to reality and the latest figures.

The Shock Troops are covert field operatives and they specialise in fast strike attacks, wiping out enemy forces before
they know what's hit them. They are excellently trained and equipped with the best that the Corporation can provide.

The miniatures are very big and chunky and look very reminiscent to the NBC suits of the modern day NATO forces. Big
and bulky looking suits with very large gas masks or respirators, make these troops look very foreboding.

The standard troopers are all armed with P1000 handguns and each is very detailed and full of pouches and grenades
while the Captain is armed with a AR3000 rifle and the heavy weapons trooper carries a Ghena Pukka (one of my
favourite weapons in the game!).
Animation on all the miniatures is first rate and all are posed in a variety of dramatic stances that look life like and
realistic. As stated the detail is great and each of the miniatures has lots of pipes and tubes coming from it, adding to the
detail. The Shock Troops are all armed with some very nasty grenades that make enemy models take an immediate LD
test or lose any wait or hide markers they may have and these are only available to these specialist troops.

Demon Hunter. #9672/£1.50/$2.95.

One of the most mysterious of all Mishima’s warriors. The Demon Hunter are taught the art of hunting the vile demons
that plague mankind and live for nothing but their total destruction. They train in the underground seas on the planet
Mercury for years before they are ready to face the ultimate foe, and you can tell when things are bad when you see on of
these warriors stride on the battle field.

The miniature looks as if its come direct from the temple of some ancient Samurai warlord. Standing a lot taller than
normal Warzone miniatures the Demon Hunter is very impressive and unusually for a Heartbreaker miniature comes
with an alternative arm so you can arm the model to suit your needs.

The animation is very static, but this helps the miniature a lot as it gives a sense of a statue brought to life as if by some
divine unseen force. In its left hand it is wielding a large serrated ceremonial sword the Demontooth and the other arm as
I said is a choice of a basic Windraider rifle or a heavy weapon. Looking like a traditional Samurai, this is a well-sculpted
and detailed miniature. Rules for the Demon Hunter can be found in Beasts of War.

Battlefield Enhancers 1-4:#4107/10 £5.99/$10.95

What's a miniature wargame without some thing to play on and fight over? Finding good quality scenery for sci-fi games is
quite difficult. It looks too tacky or is often the wrong scale for the game your playing. Sure there is a lot of things that you
can use available but if they are made from stock cardboard, they have a tendency to get knocked about no matter how
well the print is on the cardboard or how pretty they look. For gaming purposes you really need something that’s going to
last for a long time and can take a fair deal of punishment.

Well look no further as Heartbreaker have once again come to the rescue! Released as part of the Battlefield
Enhancement series for Warzone come a brand new set of resin walls, crates, ammo dumps and ruins. Each of the
pieces is made from cold cast Polyethylene Resin and molded in a dark grey color so you can actually start to play as
soon as you have opened the packs. All of the pieces are excellently cast and I found very little flash resin on my lovely
samples.

Set one contains six resin crates of varying sizes, some are single crates and others are smaller crates all packed in a
neat package together. The smallest of the crates is around a centimetre in height and three across and the largest is
almost big enough to hide a standard 28mm miniature behind.

Painting the crates is of course up to the individual and I opted to paint most of mine as if they were wooden and picked
out the bands that wrap them in a dark colour.

Set 2 is Fuel dump and contains all the things you would expect to find lying around a base or camp, such as fuel barrels
and canisters and even a generator and sandbags. And when combined with Set 3 the Ammo dump you can get some
really interesting combinations to spark up your games table. Ammo boxes and large metallic crates make up the bulk of
the Ammo dump and all are excellently detailed.

Finally in Set 4 we see the first in the Dark Legion range that is due out very soon. A collection of ruined walls from what
was perhaps a temple of Algeroth make up this set and these are the business. Small detailed symbols of Algeroth litter
the debris of this once proud building and because of the way the pieces are designed you can literally set them up in any
way you like, making a small ruin, or by adding extra packs a huge vast building. Some of the best resin work I have seen
in a long time. Well worth checking out.

Imperial Headhunters#1&#2/#9988/9989: £1.25/$2.95

Headhunters are some of the most crazy and insane troops in all the galaxy! They are well known for their antics on a
battlefield, and often in the heat of battle they forget the task in hand and go on wild sprees of beheading their foes with
the huge close combat weapons they carry.
The miniature representations of these blood thirsty warriors are excellent. Each looks manic and as if they could kill their
own mothers given half a chance. Headhunter 1 (#9988) is very well animated, with his Claymore in one hand, while
holding a decapitated head in the other. He looks as if he is about to start to recite Shakespeare at any moment and re-
enact a scene from Hamlet. The attention to detail as always is first class and lots of very nicely sculpted skulls are to be
found on the miniatures shoulder pads, and belt. He comes in just two pieces, the main body and the hand holding the
sword and goes together with no problems.

The second in the range (#9989) is almost a direct copy of the Paul Bonner painting in the third Warzone compendium
Casualties of War and looks the kind of person you would most definitely not want to meet on a dark night. Again posed
with a disembodied head in one hand and a double headed battle axe in the other, animation and pose are once again
very well composed and the miniature as with its brother paint up a treat.

Rules for Headhunters can be found in Casualties of War.

Jake Kramer. #9682 £1.50/$2.95

Jake Kramer is the last of the miniatures based upon the characters taken from the hit comic book Golgotha, with the
others in the range being released over the past couple of months. Jake is a strange character having spent most of his
adult life in the services of the Capital Corporation as a fighter, mercenary and even a member of the elite forces. The
comic has Jake wind up with his old friend (well sort of ) Mitch Hunters they fight against Golgotha, and her henchman
Stahler.

The miniature is very well sculpted and the detail is excellent as with all the characters taken from the comic. He is seen
holding the Ghenna Puka one of my favourite weapons and he is wearing his long leather trench jacket. Jake was one of
my favourite characters in the comic book and I was very pleased to see that he didn’t lose anything in the transition from
comic to table top. Rules for Jake can be found in Casualties of War.

Blessed Vestal Laura #9679 £1.50/$2.95

Female figures are few and far between in Warzone ( in fact in gaming in general!) and its always nice to see one come
my way. Laura is one of the Vestal the elite female warriors of the Brotherhood. She is a valuable asset in combat due to
her ability to use all aspects of Art (the magic system of the Brotherhood) and also partly due to the fact that she is a
cheap character to buy!

The miniature is wearing the Vestal armor and she is holding aloft a Castigator Spear. Detail is crisp and there is some
very nice scroll work on her shoulder pads that looks great once painted.

Brotherhood Pilgrims 9540 £3.95/$8.95

Taken from the third compendium Casualties of War. The Brotherhood Pilgrims are often used as escorts or recon units
during journeys into unknown territories. They are completely loyal to the Cardinal and live only to wipe the scourge of the
Dark ones from the face of the galaxy.

The miniatures are all armed with the Converter assault rifle and are all wearing some of the strangest looking armour I
have seen yet in Warzone. The detail is good but I am not too sure about the helmets that they are wearing . But once
painted they look excellent.

Desert Scorpions #9541 £3.95/$8.95

These Capital troops are highly trained to fight in the harsh environment of the Martian deserts. They are well equipped
and trained not to panic or rout. They are in a constant battle with the forces of the Dark Legion on the red planet and are
often used in situations were survival in harsh conditions is paramount.

As for the miniatures. Well as with a lot of other miniature companies Heartbreaker has opted here for a kind of cheating
method that cuts down on cost but still gives the consumer a new product. The basic bodies of the Desert Scorpions were
originally the Capital Special Forces troops (#9509) and all that is basically new is the heads and the helmets that they are
wearing.

I know that this sounds like a rip off but believe me when I say it isn't ! This is a custom that is practised by companies all
over the world and will carry on as long as there are people to sculpt miniatures or customers to buy them!

Well how do they look? Believe it or not they look very, very good. In fact I would go as far as saying that they look a lot
better than the original figures. The helmets set them apart from the others figures in the Capital range (kind of like an
American Football helmet!) and they are now sitting very nicely in my Capital army.
