Evaluation Of The Development Of Children
Chapter One: Introduction Chapter 2: Literature Review Attachment is important to the
development of children in order for them to establish bonds and feel security with
primary caregivers. Children who are adopted or placed in substitute care often times
experience major breaks in caregiving. This results in children lacking the ability to feel
safe, loved, wanted and apart of another human being. This break in attachment
sometimes leaves the child reeling lost and anger with those providing for them. The
feeling of attachment, or lack of attachment, can determine and affect the future
outcomes of children as they grow in to adults.
Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD) as stated is the American Psychiatric Association:
Diagnosis and Statistical Manual of mental disorders edition 5 states that there are two
types: inhibited and disinhibited type of attachment (Association, 2000). Inhibited type
are children who have multiple experiences with primary caregivers who don t provide
emotional support and comfort when needed. These children are always rejected, in
their opinion, and avoid any social contact with others. These types of children
withdrawal form their primary caregivers, avoid being comforted and self soothe. Social
settings can be awkward for these inhibited type of children and they respond with
aggression and vigilance (Wimmer, 2009). Children who have the disinhibited type have
many experiences with primary caregivers who are not responsive to their

The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today

Overview Of Artificial Neural Networks
Introduction Artificial neural networks are a class of computational structures (Lesk,
2013) made up of several processing elements, called artificial neurons that are
connected and organized in layers (Larder et al., 2007). They are capable of generating
models for the detection of non linear functions(..). Their algorithms are extensively
applied in biology and medicine to solve complex problems, more specifically for
prediction or classification of solutions or to refine methodological aspects. (Florence
and Balasubramanie, 2010). Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a retrovirus that
can lead to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). (Kim et al., 2010). It is a
disease in which the body immune system weakens progressively,... Show more content

Artificial neural networks have been used extensively as a complimentary
bioinformatics tool to make approximations of the cleavage site activity and
specificity. First uses of ANNs to solve the problem The aim of first research study
was to develop a classification model that, given a sequence of eight amino acids,
could discriminate between sequences which are either cleavable or uncleavable by
the HIV 1 protease. (Kim et al., 2010). The neural learning algorithms used most
frequently was back propagation neural networks (BPNNs) (Thomson et al., 2003)
because it performs well on prediction problems. (Sibanda and Pretorius, 2012). When
BBNN was used for the prediction of the HIV 1 protease cleavage site, it gave a
prediction accuracy 92%(Thomson et al., 2010) However, one of the major
disadvantages of using ANNs to analyse biological data referred to the impossibility of
most ANNs of recognizing non numerical features like amino acids. Hence an
encoding process to model the amino acids was preferable. (Thomson et al., 2003)
The advantage of the Bio basic functional neural networks The peculiarity of this
algorithm relates to its ability to recognise amino acids directly. Thus, avoiding the use
of 20 binary bits to represent each amino acid is advantageous. (2003) The prediction
accuracy of BBFNN was proved in a research study using 362 HIV protease sequences,
where 114 were with cleavage sites and
Susan Orwell s Chinese Cinderella
In this essay, I will explore how the readings of his module s creative non fiction text
influenced the writing of my assessed creative piece: Chinese Cinderella. I will examine
how Zadie Smith, Charles Simic, Geroge Orwell and Susan Orlean contributed to
Chinese Cinderella in terms of authority, character, story and thesis.
To have authority signifies whether you believe the story and are able to immerse
yourself into the world the writer s created for you and simply have faith that the words
are true. The Orchid Thief was originally supposed to be an article for the newspaper,
but Orleans saw the potential it had and, therefore, created a creative non fiction text. As
someone with a journalistic background, the readers would trust ... Show more content on

Relying on a familial understanding of animals, by describing her eyes as doe like or
owl like , trusting in the readers to follow their imagination. Not many would have
picked up on this, but those with a classical background would have remembered that
Homer used the epithet bright eyed for Athene, a representation of her wisdom.
Therefore, although I have stated that it meant clear sightedness there is the underlying
meaning of someone who is wise. This could be said for Orwell in Shooting an
Elephant where the elephant is a representation of the Burmese people. In addition, the
elephant could be a representation of the British Empire, powerful and mighty, but
when it was ravaging the bazaar it is a unique metaphor for the British Empire raiding
and colonizing Burma. The death of a black Dravidian coolie by the stampeding
elephant could be Orwell showing us the Britsh oppressing the native, which he
disapprove off but found it hard to do so as he resented the natives for the ridicule he
The Pros And Cons Of The Canadian Constitution
The Canadian constitution is one founded on the idea of responsible government. This is
a principle that is meant to hold the state. However, many have since struggled with
understanding how the Monarch of Britain fits into this form of governance. Some say
the monarch is meant to be the representation of the state, and the figurehead we need to
keep our government in check. Others point out that the Monarch is an unelected official
incompatible with the ideas of responsible government and democracy, for that matter.
Scholars seem evenly split between both camps. A question must be proposed about these
opinion however, is the Monarchy harmful enough to Canadian society to spend the time,
money, and effort to overhaul our constitution? It shouldn t have to be stated but
abolishing the monarchy is no easy task, so to even undertake this measure, we as a
society must be absolutely sure of the decision and the consequences Advocates of
monarchy are expressing their support for the institution on nostalgic grounds,... Show

Other than Quebec, no province feels any ill will towards the crown, or at least not
enough to vote in favor of secession. Author of the Republican option in Canada David E
Smith outlines many of the republican statements throughout their agenda s. Smith at
one point in his book states, an angus reid poll stated that 59 percent of Canadians
viewed the monarchy as irrelevant, while only 15 percent stated that it had a negative
impact on Canada as a whole. If such a small group does not feel effected by it and an
even less group of people object, is it really in the best interest of Canada to do away
with. Even with those objecting to the monarchy, a great deal of them come from
Quebec and don t share the same cultural views as most other Canadians. One of David E
Smith s solution to remedy this rather dismissive problem is that of Canadianizing the
The History and Culture of Black Jews in America Essay
According to the broadest definition, there are approximately 9 million Jewish adults
in America. Of those, 5.3 million are Jewish because they practice the Jewish religion
or who have a Jewish parent and consider themselves Jewish. Non hispanic blacks
make up 2% of that population. (A Portrait of Jewish Americans) Blacks constitute
such a small percentage of the Jewish population that they are often considered to be
obviously not Jewish . This was the experience of Rabbi Shlomo ben Levy.In an article
entitled, Who are we? Where did we come from? How many of us are there? , Rabbi
Levy describes his feelings of marginalization triggered by an advertisement for Levy s
Jewish Rye. The advertisement features a black boy eating a sandwich and... Show more

(Kaye/Kantrowitz 1) Meanwhile, it is not uncommon for black Jews, who usually prefer
to be called Hebrews or Israelites, to describe white Jews as the products of conversion
or intermarriage and that Judaism is the true religion of their African ancestors. (Parfitt 84
88) This dynamic shapes the mutual mistrust that exists between black Jews in America
and the overwhelmingly Ashkenazi majority.
The problem of marginalization began with the waves of Jewish immigrants from Europe
who fled the Russion pogroms and later the Nazis. In their homelands, these people were
Jewish, but in America they had the opportunity to be white. In cementing their status as
white, these Amnerican Jews further alienated the small minority of Jews of African
descent and others who do not fit nicely into the white race group. Despite this, the black
Jews of America share a diverse cultural history that is both African and Jewish.
The Commandment Keepers, are one of the largest and best known black Jewish
congregations in America. (Chireau 25) Their founder, Wentworth Arthur Matthew, is
regarded as the first black American rabbi. Matthew s background is not well
documented. From his own accounts he was born in the West Indies in 1892, the
grandson of an Ethiopian Jew, and studied at a number of prestigious institutions. The
congregation he founded remains active and has been an Orthodox Jewish congregation
since it s founding in 1919. (Biography of

Proof of Heaven: A Neurosurgeon s Journey into the Afterlife

Abstract
Eben Alexander is a neurosurgeon who believed for many years that when people
explained their near death experiences it was just the hard wiring of the brain. Of course
,though, he had refined medical training. It wasn t until Alexander had caught a rare
disease which caused him to fall into a coma and had a near death experience himself.
Alexander talks about his journey towards the afterlife in his book which leads to many
questions to everyone as to whether it really happened or if it was all just a hallucination.
The paper talks about how he recounts what happened during his experience ... Show

He describes her as a beautiful girl with high cheek bones and deep blue eyes...[g]olden
brown tresses framed her lovely face (Alexander, 2012, p. 40). She was also riding on a
butterfly wing, as he recalls, and it just seems to be a way a novelist would describe an
angel guiding someone lost in heaven. There was nothing to make it sound different or
stand out. It makes it hard to believe it s Alexander trying to prove heaven is real rather
than just writing a story.
Later on in the book Alexander talks about the core where he saw [b]ig, puffy, pink
white [clouds] that showed up sharply against the deep blue black sky (p. 45).
Everyone who thinks of heaven, thinks of clouds. It is not uncommon for anyone to
describe heaven that way. It is very stereotypical and made it no different that anyone
else s image of heaven. A sound, huge and booming like a glorious chant, came from
above, and I wondered if the winged beings were producing it (Alexander, 2012, p. 45)
is also another stereotype of what people say you d hear when you re in heaven. Again,
not enough proof.
There was a section where he mentions how he came into contact with God and received
knowledge that was not taught but stored. It seemed that everyone who might have gone
to church had heard the knowledge of what God was giving to Alexander. Maybe if he
had gone more into depth and detail to what the knowledge he stored from his
