"Building Your Self Awareness" - Self Assessment Activity

Once you have completed all the assessments in the "Module 2: Resources",
spend some time reflecting in the following exercise. Record all your insights here
so you can access them later.

Which is your strongest of the emotional intelligence capabilities? Social skills

Which is your weakest of all the emotional intelligence components?

Motivation
How do you think you could improve your EI overall score? What would you focus on first?

To improve my overall emotional intelligence (EI) score, I would first focus on enhancing my
motivation. Although I excel in Self-regulation, self-awareness, empathy, and social skills, I
recognize the need to boost my intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. I plan to change my attitude
toward undesirable tasks, set clear goals, break tasks into smaller steps, and build in
accountability. Additionally, mastering time management, avoiding procrastination, and
implementing a reward system are strategies I intend to use. Creating an accomplishment
log will help me track and celebrate my progress. Overall, by concentrating on motivation, I
aim to elevate my EI and achieve a more well-rounded emotional intelligence profile.

What are your top three values?

Ethics Commitment Teamwork
If values drive behaviour, are you living your values on a daily basis? How could your actions change if
you were to align more closely with your values?

I believe I generally live by my top values of ethics, commitment, and teamwork. To align
more closely with these values, I aim to maintain a broader perspective on ethics,
manage commitments more effectively to avoid overload, and actively foster
collaborative problem-solving in my teams. Overall, continuous self-reflection and a
commitment to ethical decision-making will guide me towards living my values more
consistently.
What was your MBTI personality profile?
ENTJ
After reading about your profile, do you feel it reflects who you are? Why do you think knowing our
personality will help us be more effective leaders?

My result:
Extravert(47%) iNtuitive(22%) Thinking(19%) Judging(41%)
Yes, the personality profile reflects aspects of who I am, particularly in terms of moderate extraversion, slight intuition
preference, slight thinking preference over feeling, and moderate judging over perceiving.
Understanding our personality is vital for effective leadership, as highlighted in the article (CHAMORRO-PREMUZIC,
2017). It emphasizes self-awareness to manage potential pitfalls associated with extreme personality traits. For
instance, my moderate extraversion suggests the need to balance social interactions, while a slight thinking
preference indicates a focus on logic that requires consideration of emotions. Overall, this awareness facilitates better

strengths and proactively addressing challenges for successful outcomes.

How can you right away leverage or maximize your strengths to be more effective everyday? How will
this insight help you be a better team player?

To immediately leverage or maximize my strengths for more effective everyday performance, I would focus on the
following:
1. Problem Solver: Actively seek challenges, tackle issues, and contribute solutions.
2. Analyst: Focus on tasks requiring data analysis and logical thinking for a rational approach.
3. Coach: Support the growth of team members, fostering an environment of continuous improvement.
4. Deliverer: Prioritize commitments, follow through, and showcase reliability to build trust.
5. Time Keeper: Excel in meeting deadlines, provide structure, and enhance efficiency through effective planning.
This insight will make me a better team player by aligning my strengths with diverse strengths within the team.
Emphasizing collaboration, efficient problem-solving, and mutual support contributes to positive team culture and
enhances overall effectiveness.

How resilient do you feel you are and do you agree with the resilience assessment? Explain how you
demonstrate resilience currently in your life?

I feel highly resilient, with a score of 83, which is evident in my life choices. As an international student in Calgary, I've
left my home country, job, and family for the pursuit of education and personal growth. Despite the challenges of
studying full-time, working full-time, and managing various aspects of my life independently, I maintain a positive and
adaptable mindset.

My resilience is demonstrated through playful curiosity, continuous learning, and quick adaptation to new situations. I
possess solid self-esteem, seek support from relationships, and express my feelings honestly. Embracing optimism,
empathy, and intuition, I navigate uncertainty and defend myself when necessary. I see challenges as opportunities
for growth, aligning with the concept of turning adversity into strength. Overall, my resilience contributes to my
ongoing personal and professional development, allowing me to thrive amid significant changes.
