Padma Awards were instituted in 02/01/1954 to be awarded to citizens of India in recognition of their
distinguished contribution in various spheres of activity including the arts, education, industry,
literature, science, acting, medicine, social service and public affairs.
Padma Vibhushan is awarded for "exceptional and distinguished service".
Padma Bhushan is awarded for "distinguished service of a high order".
Padma is awarded for "distinguished service".
Unlike national honours, the Padma awards do not include cash allowances, benefits, or special
concessions in rail/air travel.
The Pulitzer Prize is an award administered by Columbia University for achievements in newspaper,
magazine, online journalism, literature, and musical composition within the United States.
It was established in 1917 by provisions in the will of Joseph Pulitzer, who had made his fortune as a
newspaper publisher.
The awards were announced by Marjorie Miller, the administrator of the Pulitzer Prizes.

Winners: Two prizes were awarded in this category: John Archibald, Ashley Remkus, Ramsey Archibald
and Challen Stephens of AL.com Birmingham were awarded the prize "for a series exposing how the
police force in the town of Brookside preyed on residents to inflate revenue coverage the prompted
