such as eye strain, neck pain, and disrupted sleep patterns due to excessive screen time,
especially before bedtime. Some parents and educators are having concerns about the
impact of phone and social media dependence on children and teenagers. Excessive screen
time may interfere with academic performance, physical activity, and face-to-face social
interactions.
Other than that many teenagers who are dependent to phones and social networks
are experiencing mental health and health issues like social isolation, disturbed sleep
patterns, decreased productivity, bullying, and addiction. Social networks can be breeding
grounds for the spread of fake news and misinformation. This can have significant societal
impacts, influencing public opinion and contributing to the polarization of views.
It's important to note that while these negative effects are associated with
dependence on phones and social networks, moderation and conscious use can help
mitigate many of these issues. Encouraging digital literacy, setting boundaries, and
promoting a healthy balance between online and offline activities are key strategies to
address these challenges.
