COLOMBIA
Day 1
Hola everyone! Welcome to the Republic of Colombia. On behalf of One Seed Expeditions, I am
Arjay your official tour guide for 3 days. Before we head to your hotel let us first visit the Plaza
de Bolivar. But right now I’d like you to give a short introduction about Colombia and of the
Do’s and Don’ts here. *show flag* can someone tell if from what country is this flag. *pause
bagya* Yes! That’s right it’s from the country of Colombia. The airport where you arrived is the
Bogota International Airport which is the major airport of the country and the common way to
get around here in Colombia in by bus. Let me tell you now the Do’s and Don’ts.
Cover your mouth when yawning.
Keep your hands visible above the table and do not rest your elbows on it.
Do enjoy the kindness and hospitality of Colombians.
Do negotiate the price before buying on the street and small stores.
Be watchful for the thieves and other criminal activities.
It is rude to speak with your hands in your pockets or chew gum with your mouth open.
Do not wear expensive watch or jewellery
Do not whistle when you want to get someone’s attention.
Do not carry large amount of money
So we are now here at our first destination, but before that I’d like to inform about the
basic greetings of Colombians so if you want to interact with locals you can greet them
in their native language. The common verbal greeting is “Buenos dias” (Good day),
“Buenas tardes” (good afternoon) or “Buenas noches” (good evening/night) depending
on the time of day. The formal title to greet people with is ‘señor’ (mister) for men and
‘señora’ (missus) for women. Instead of saying thank you, you can say Muchas Gracias.
So, those are some, as you able to explore Colombia you will learn more Spanish words.
By the way please take your valuable things or keep them in a safe bag before you get off of
the bus.
*bus*
Everyone we are now going to Arepas la Reina wherein they serve the famous Colombian
food—Arepas. Arepas are cornmeal cakes that originated hundreds of years ago in a region
that now makes up Colombia, Venezuela, and Panama. Traditionally, they were cooked on a
pan called a budare. But they can also be grilled, baked, or fried. I know you are all excited
to eat your first meal here at Colombia, you can now get inside of the restaurant and enjoy
your meal.
*bus*
How’s the food? Great! That is pleasing to here. It’s getting dark, I’ll give you the rest of the
time to get lots of energy for tomorrow’s tour. We’ll be heading to your accommodation at

known as the “river of five colors”, which is also considered by many to be “the most beautiful river in
the world”. The river has also been called the “liquid rainbow”. During several months each year,
Caño Cristales becomes a rainbow of vibrant colors including red, green, yellow, blue and black
hues in a natural display that reportedly happens nowhere else on Earth.

Did Canyo Cristales take your breath away? Because me honestly I was really amazed to that
place and I hope you do. So, from water let’s jump to desert. Let us end this day with the
mesmerizing place of Disierto dela Tatacoa. The stunning and surreal desert landscapes in the
area as well as fossil remains plus being considered a good location for star gazing make it a
popular tourist area. Tatacoa has almost no pollution or noise. So, it attracts tourists who enjoy
the silence, scenery and tranquility.
*desert*
