I am Mahdi Ibne Miraj, an 18 year old travel and sports loving person who was born and brought up
in Dhaka. Later on I completed my Higher secondary school certificate (HSC) with a GPA of 4.83 out
of 5.00 from Birshreshtha Munshi Abdur Rouf Public College and took my PTE exam on August 25,
2023 and passed with an overall 68 ( R- 78, L-63, S-70, W-66). Now I aim to pursue a Bachelor of
Commerce from Edith Cowan University, Joondalup, Australia.

2. Why choose this Program & Career Outcome?

Growing up I’ve always looked up to my father who was a businessman. Life of an entrepreneur
always fascinated me, but after witnessing the ups and downs in a traditional business man’s life, I
realized that to turn a business idea into a truly successful business one needs to have good
knowledge on all the components of business from how to market your product to accounts and
managements; a bachelor of commerce degree is offering all of these on the same time what can
provide a solid foundation to an entrepreneurial mindset. On the contrary, bachelor of commerce
offers diverse career options, including finance, accounting, marketing, management, human
resources, and entrepreneurship. The Market Size in Bangladesh's B2B Marketplace is nearly
192 Billion USD whereas the B2C market size is 6.5 Billion USD, so there’s a plenty of
opportunities.

3. Why This Provider & Australia?

Edith Cowan University is Western Australia’s youngest university is known for its industry-relevant
programs, world-class research, broad industry connections, and remarkable student support. 65.5%
of ECU graduates are employed full-time four months after completing their course and it is
ranked among the top 2.5% in the world according to Times Higher Education.

4. Why Not Bangladesh?

In Bangladesh, none of the universities offer graduate programs with industrial exposure, internship
opportunities, structured coursework or research efficiencies. Contrary, Australia already has a well-
established system for supporting international students.

5. Financial Arrangement & What are your ties to Home Country or Incentive
to return?

My mother is sponsoring me BDT 50,00,000 for my education and her annual income is BDT
22,63,200. As I have one of my elder sisters already living near my university, I will be staying at her
place. As the only son of the family I have a huge responsibility towards my parents. I am focused on
coming back to my country as soon as finishing my studies there to look after my parents, inheriting
their properties and growing a successful business here.
