BACKGROUND/BRIEF CONTEXT/PERSPECTIVE OF THE ACTIVITY

Experiences, problems, and questions related to animal water systems include the importance
of water quality for livestock performance, the influence of physiological and environmental
factors on water intake, and the impact of water salinity on animal health. Monitoring water
sources, ensuring access to clean water, and understanding the varying water requirements
based on species, age, and environmental conditions are crucial. Issues such as dehydration
signs reduced productivity due to poor water quality, and the significance of providing
adequate water for livestock are key considerations. Factors like salinity levels affecting
different animal species and the necessity of maintaining suitable water quality to prevent
health issues and productivity losses are essential aspects to address in animal water systems.
High salinity levels, bacterial contamination, and chemical pollutants can negatively impact
animal health and productivity.

Limited water availability: Insufficient water sources or inadequate infrastructure can lead to
restricted water intake, causing stress and reducing animal performance.

Poor water quality, high salinity levels, bacterial contamination, and chemical pollutants can
negatively impact animal health and productivity. Effect: Reduced water and feed intake,
dehydration, loss of weight, drying of mucous membranes and eyes, and reduced animal
performance.

Observing water systems for animals has led me to feel concerned about the potential negative
impacts on animal health and productivity. Problems such as poor water quality, limited
availability, and improper design can lead to dehydration, reduced productivity, and health
risks.

Water quality affects water intake, herd health, and performance. Poor water quality will
normally result in reduced water and feed intake, reducing weight gains, milk production, and
animal performance.

Focusing on water systems for animals is crucial for several reasons. Animals, like humans,
require clean water for hydration, health, and well-being. By improving water systems for
animals, organizations can positively impact ecosystems, wildlife populations, and
biodiversity. Additionally, ensuring access to clean water for animals can help prevent
diseases, maintain ecological balance, and support sustainable habitats.

Possible outcomes of this project are to have enhanced animal health and survival rates due to
better access to clean water, and reduced spread of zoonotic diseases from poor sanitation or
contaminated water sources. Also, Increased resilience against droughts and other climate
change impacts affecting water resources, and improved habitat sustainability by maintaining
healthy aquatic ecosystems which is beneficial to livestock farmers who rely on adequate water
supplies for their herds.
PROJECT OBJECTIVE

1. To help the farmers and poultry.

2. To produce a product that will use a simple cleaning process of designs that allow for
easy cleaning, maintaining high standards of sanitation.
3. To provide a safe chicken drinker suitable for various environments, including
indoor settings where spillage is minimized.

EXPECTED OUTPUT/OUTCOME IN THE PROPOSAL

1. Improved access to clean and safe drinking water for animals.

2. Reduced risk of waterborne diseases among animals.
3. Increased animal productivity and health due to better hydration.

RISK MANAGEMENT PLAN

Water Quality Management:

Implement stringent water quality monitoring practices. Consider health-based targets

recommended by organizations like the WHO. Assess and manage risks related to pathogenic
threats from domestic wastewater and chemical risks like salinity

Water Management Strategies:

Implement efficient water management practices to address water scarcity and contamination
issues. Install rainwater harvesting systems and recycle wastewater to ensure a sustainable water
supply for animals. Collaboration and Networking. Build connections within the farming
community to share insights and resources for risk mitigation.
