LEGAL BASIS
The legal basis of social studies in the Philippines
1. The Philippine Constitution: The Constitution emphasizes the
importance of education in shaping the youth and promoting
citizenship.
2. Republic Act 10533 or the Enhanced Basic of 2013: The
law, also known as the K-12 Law, Provides the framework for
the current curriculum.
3. The K-12 Curriculum of the Department of Education. This
curriculum framework provides guidelines for the teaching of
social studies in basic education.
4. DepEd Order No. 20, s. 2013: This order provides the
guidelines for the implementation of the K-12 curriculum.
5. DepEd Order No. 36, s. 2016: This order further
supplements the DepEd Order No. 20, s. 2013 and provide
additional guidelines for the implementation of the K to 12
curriculum.
