Background
Tigray Youth Association (TYA) is a civic society established in 1990G.C with a
single chair, table and a donation of 800 typing papers. TYA is registered in the
Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Charities and Society Agency with a
reference No 621/2001 Article 68(1) as a local NGO. Currently it has more than
400,000 members, working with more than 14 local and international partners, has
15 ICT centers and 5 youth centers in the region, more than 12 motor cycles and 2
vehicles. Besides this TYA has relatively well equipped zonal and regional office
and further more TYA has built a G+1 building at Mekelle and start new
construction of G+2 youth center at Shire. Since its establishment twenty years ago
TYA has been active in the following areas.
Capacity building;
Promotion of employment creation and undertaking sustainable income
generating activity;
Good governance, democracy and human rights;
Cultural promotion and behavioral change;
HIV/AIDS/STI prevention, care and control;
Family planning/Reproductive Health;
Mobilize use for environmental protection;
Reduction of the vulnerability of the use by facilitating improved skill and
participation in education;
It is with this future view that TYA is developing a 5 year strategic plan to
streamline its activities and plans as an organizational development endeavor
aims to strengthen and rationalize the programmatic and organizational capacity
of TYA through evaluating the as per the past strategic plan and identify its
strength and weakness. More over the strategic plan is tried to encompass the
new strategies forwarded in the regional and national growth and
transformation plan (GTP).

Mission, Vision and Goal of TYA
Mission
To improve the wellbeing of member youth using and respecting its own
association to protect and promote social, political and economic right of the
youth reserved in the constitution through participatory youth development
initiative program approach
Vision
To see Tigray with productive, healthy, self-confident; and capacitated youth
generation.
Goal
To play a vanguard role for up-keeping the economic, social and political
wellbeing of its members and the wider youth community in the region and the
country at large.
The PR office has the same background, mission, vision and goal with
the organization.
The staff has 1 member, and his responsibility is encouraging the member to
resettle in fertile area; incorporate stakeholders in establishing research agenda.
