following components:

ADIDAS
Activity In the first part, I create a motivational Activity called “
Match me up” to warm up my students before we start our
lesson.

Directions: Match the set in column A that is equivalent to

the set in column B. Write the letter of your
answer in the space provided before the number.

A. B.

__ 1. 4 + 1 a. 4 + 4
__ 2. 5 - 3 b. 4 + 2
__ 3. 5 + 2 c. 6 + 5
__ 4. 1 - 9 d. 10 - 3
__ 5. 10 - 4 e. 1 + 1
f. 7 - 2

I’m going to write this activity in a manila paper and I’ll put it
in the board. I’m going to call 5 random students to answer.

Discussion In this part I will ask some question that is connected to our
topic.

What do you think is the meaning of the word “equivalent”?

For example a 20 peso bill is equivalent to a two 10 peso bill.
It is the process of combining two or more numbers to obtain
a sum, what operation is this?

What about when we are removing one number from another

to obtain a difference?

In each question my students will provide an answer.

Input Our lesson is also connected to the importance of eating fruit,
so in this part I will show them a picture of the fruit.

What kind of fruit do you see in the picture?

Response: It’s a mango teacher.
Yes, it’s a mango. Do you know that mango is rich in
Vitamin C that help our immune system to become strong and
prevent us from getting sick. We need to eat fruit like
mango, because it is good to our body. So, who among you
are eating mango?
Response: We’re all eating mango teacher.

That’s good to hear. Why do we need to eat fruits like

mango?
Response: In order to make our body strong and we can grow
fast teacher.
Correct my dear grade 3!

Deepening To deepen their understanding on the lesson I’m going to read

a short story and they need to listen because I will be asking
some questions.

After that they will count the number of mangoes that are
being said in the story. This will help them to know what is
the connect of the mango fruit in our lesson.

The mangoes are 12 pieces.

Explanation:

The number 12 can be a combination of two numbers

combined.
10 + 2 = 12( Addition)
20 - 8 = 12 ( Subtraction )
So, the 10 + 2 = 20 - 8 is equivalent number expression
because they have the same answer which is 12.
The number of mango can be a combination of two combined
number that is why it is connected to our lesson.

Activity On the Application, We need to read the situation given and I

will ask a question.
Jimmy has ₱ 20 inside his pocket and he saw that his mother
only gave his brother a ₱ 10. Jimmy wants that he and his
brother should have the same amount of money, how much
money should he give to his brother?
Response: He should give a ₱ 5 to his brother.
Very good!
₱ 20 - ₱ 5 = ?
Response: The answer is ₱ 5 Teacher.
₱ 10 + ₱ 5 = ?
Response: It’s also ₱ 5 Teacher.

Correct! Now they have the same amount of money, which is

₱ 15.

Synthesis In this part, I’m going to give a 10 items evaluation test.

Directions: Write the equivalent expression of each number.

1. 8 + 3 = __ - __
2. 11 + 2 = __ - __
3. 9 - 3 = __ + __
4. 10 - 4 = __ + __
5. 15 - 5 = __ + __
6. 7 + 3 = __ - __
7. 6 - 2 = __ + __
8. 8 + 4 = __ - __
9. 12 - 5 = __ + __
10. 10 + 5 = __ - __
