Teacher will ask sts if they have any clue about the book or if they have watched any movie
about it.
Teacher will ask sts to make a list about the inventions that have been important for the
world development. We will compare the choices.
Regarding the name of the book, we will work on “means of transports” and their
expressions ( on, by). How can people travel around the world?. We will brainstorm the
different means.
In the book, sts will work on page 2 where they will have to match words with pictures and complete
sentences using MEAN OF TRANSPORTS.
Summarising: teacher will ask sts to explain in a brief way the most important(s) event(s).
After reading the chapter, sts will develop activities in the book pages 8-9 to check and
reinforce understanding. ( T/ F, matching, gap filling, multiple choice)
Write down which five things would you take on a journey? Discuss with your mate and
make a list.
Writing: write down a short conversation between Mr Fogg and Passepartout, the new
servant, when they met at Fogg’s house.
Before Fogg begins his adventure, he leads a very exact life as a London gentleman. What is
he always doing at these times? Complete his routine.
CLASS # 2
Before reading:
“ what do you think Fix does in the next chapter? The class will check the diferrent choices
done in the previous class. ( book page 9).
Teacher will introduce the title for chapter 2 “ From Egypt to India”. Sts will predict events
without reading.
Picture description: sts will describe orally what they can see on picture book page 10.
Answer: what does Mr. Fix learn from his conversations with Passepartout that makes him
fell sure thet Mr Fogg is the bank robber?
Role playing: in pairs will pass to the front to performe what Fix and Passpartout are talking
about. ( book page 10)
Chapter 2 “ From Egypt to India”
After reading:
As you read along the chapter, Detective Fix sent a telegram to the police station (book page
12). What would the chief answer? Think and write a second telegram.
The journey plan: using the planisphere, sts will start drawing the route where Mr Fogg’s
journey took place. The continents will be identified. This will take several classes, the routes
will be completed when finishing the book.
Checking undesrtanding, book pages 16-17 ( put in order, decode a message, choose the
correct answer, label the pictures, what happens next? ).
CLASS #3 “ Through India to Egypt”
Before reading:
Prediction: sts will be asked to predict about this new chapter by looking and describing the
picture on book page 19.
While reading:
After reading:
Time line: sts will draw and complete a time line taking into account the most important
events that took place throughout this chapter. Order chronologically.
Question making: sts will write the questions to the provided anwsers.
Writing: Look at the picture on book page 23. Think and write what Mr Fix is thinking.
Checking understanding exercises from book pages24-25 ( multiple choice, gap filling,
matching and predictions for next chapter).
CLASS # 4 “ From Hong Kong to Japan”
Before reading:
Checking predictions done from previous class.
After reading:
Work this out! Mr. Fogg has taken 20.000 pounds with him, how much money has he spent
so far? Make a list on the things.
Answer:How many days has Fogg taken to get this far? How many days has he got left? How
many people set sail on the tankadere? Who are they?
After Passepartout arrived at Yokohama, he started to look for a job because he had no money!.
Suddenly, he met Batulcar, the owner of a circus. He started to work as an acrobat. On the
Carnatic, Fogg and Aouda had some free time so they decided to see a circus show. There from
the audience, Fogg could see Passepartout. He ran to Fogg and all the acrobats fell down
damaging the show and Batulcar’s good name; so Batulcar asked Fogg money for the hurt
acrobats.
Checking exercises on book pages 32-33 ( find out words, matching and predicting chapter
5).
After reading:
Make a list of the cities they went through in America and which means of transport they
used for.
After reading:
Writing: Imagine you are at the prison with mr Fogg. Have a conversation. Ask him why he
is there and how he is feeling.
Answer: what’s the time difference between Mr Fogg and Passepartout, was Mr fogg late fr
his meeting at the club?
Graphic organizer: sts will complete the following graphic summarising the main ideas from
the book.
CLASS #7 “ Round up”
Video room: we will watch Around the world in 80 days- movie, the idea is to find
similarities and differences between the book and the movie.
