Recall the previous topic:

 What is the notation of Permutation?
nPr = permutation
A. Reviewing n = total number of objects

or presenting the
new lesson In how many ways can we arrange 8 pots on a 4 slotted pot garden
landscape?
n!
Formula= P(n, r) =
( n−r ) !
Given: n=8 , r= 4
Solution:
8!
8P4 =
( 8−4 ) !
8!

4!
8 ×7 ×6 × 5× 4 !

8P4 = 1680
Therefore, there are 1680 ways to arrange the 8 pots on the garden landscape.

Motivation: “SOMETHING IS MISSING”

Direction: Find the missing ingredient.

4. Show the complete solution.
5. State your conclusion.

1. You can arrange the pots in 840 ways, there are 7 different pots in total. Solve
for the pots taken in every arrangement.

n!
Formula: P(n, r) =
( n−r ) !
Given: nPr = 840, n = 7, r =?

(7-r) ! ¿ 6
(7-r) ! ¿ 3 !
7 – r¿3
- r¿3 – 7
- r¿- 4
r ¿4
Therefore, there are 4 pots taken in every arrangements.

2. You have 60 ways in arranging chairs, since there are only 3 chairs to be
arranged each room, find the total number of chairs available.
Given : nPr = 60, n = ?, r = 3
Formula: nPr = n (n-1) (n-2)
Solution:
60 ¿ n(n−1)(n−2)

5 x 4 x 3 ¿ n(n−1)(n−2)
n=5 4 = n-1 3 = n-2
4+1 = n 3+2 = n
5=n 5=n
Therefore, there are 5 chairs available in total.

new skills #1 Group 1 and 3.
You are given a task to determine the number of people attended the General
assembly. However there are only 3 chairs available on the meeting, thus there are
504 possible arrangements in total.

Group 2 and 4.
There are 3024 ways on determining the number of possible rankings. Since there
are only 9 people in total, determine the number of available ranks.
