ICD GROUP OUTING TO KIMBELL ART MUSEUM'S CARAVAGGIO AND HIS FOLLOWERS IN ROME
The Kimbell Art Museum is know nationally for the quality of the touring exhibits it offers to the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex, and few exhibits have been as highly anticipated as the one currently featured ~ Caravaggio and His Followers in Rome. You'll want to be part of the group of Italian Club Members and guests who will go to view this exhibit on Saturday, December 10, 10:00 a.m. at its only United States stop! One of the most influential figures in the history of art, Caravaggio (15711610) overturned the artistic conventions of the day and created singularly dramatic paintings, both sacred and worldly. This ambitious exhibition explores the profound impact of his work on the wide range of painters of Italian, French, Dutch, Flemish, and Spanish origin who resided in Rome. Arranged by theme, it includes over 50 paintings, with Caravaggio's compelling images juxtaposed with those he inspired. This is the second largest display of his paintings in North America and only the third Caravaggio exhibition to be held in the United States. Carpooling will be arranged for our trip out to Fort Worth. And, in what has become a favorite post-Kimbell activity, those who want to discuss the exhibit and any other topic that might arise! will go to lunch at the Taverna Risotteria & Pizzeria in Sundance Square. Prices for the exhibit are $14 for ICD Members, $16 for ICD guests, $12 for ICD Members aged 60+, $14 for ICD guests aged 60+, $12 for students with ID, and, as always, FREE for Kimbell Members. Space is very limited, so ICD Members only will be able to RSVP until Nov. 23 ~ remaining spaces will be made available to ICD guests at that point. Please RSVP at icdcaravaggio.eventbrite.com, and contact Mary Ann Webster at culture@italianclubdallas.org with any questions. Don't miss this singular opportunity to learn about one of Italy's most innovative and influential artists. Though he lived only 38 years and had a life filled with controversy, the beauty and maturity of his art are undeniable. Come spend an afternoon with Caravaggio and His Followers in Rome! Mary Ann Webster

WARM UP
WITH
SCOTCH
ON
NOVEMBER 19
When it comes to what to drink with a great meal, Italians don't limit themselves to wine and limoncello ~ they also enjoy good scotch! Why don't you branch out, too, on Saturday, November 19, when the Italian Club of Dallas presents a scotch tasting and dinner featuring the exceptional Scotch of Dalmore. Established in the Scottish Highlands in 1830 and acquired by Whyte & Mackay in 2001, Dalmore produces the finest of single malt Scotches. Chef Tommaso will create one of his excellent four-course dinners, with each course designed to complement each individual scotch. Whyte & Mackay representative Trent Roberts will guide participants through the tasting, with products ranging from a 15 year-old single malt to the magnificent 1263 King Alexander III single malt. Door prizes and a raffle featuring gifts donated by Whyte & Mackay will add the final touch to the festivities. You may think that all scotches are the same ~ or that scotch isn't really the drink for you ~ but this event will show you otherwise. Each pour will highlight the individuality of the product and will show that there is a scotch for every palate. Don't miss this one-of-a-kind evening featuring outstanding cuisine, drinks, and fellowship in the Clubhouse's warm and welcoming setting. Cocktails will be served at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. Look for the menu to be posted online. The cost for the event is $60 for ICD Members and $80 for ICD Guests. Reservations are required, and we ask that you RSVP at 972-9319167, whiskydinner.eventbrite.com, or at the Clubhouse by November 17. Contact Dennis Williams at (972) 931-9167 with any questions. May the hinges of friendship never rust or the wings of love lose a feather! Do sheagh sla'inte! (To your good health!) Dennis Williams
