І. Introduction
Goals:
1. Comprehensive Understanding. To gain a comprehensive understanding
of how social media influences individuals' self-esteem and body image
across diverse demographics, age groups, and cultural contexts.
2. Identify Contributing Factors. To identify the key factors within social
media platforms (such as content types, engagement mechanisms, and
sociocultural influences) that contribute to positive or negative effects on
self-esteem and body image.
3. Assessing Moderating Variables. To explore moderating variables,
including individual differences, platform features, and online behavior, that
may influence the strength and direction of the relationship between social
media use and self-perception.
4. Development of Intervention Strategies. To develop evidence-based
intervention strategies and recommendations aimed at mitigating the
negative impact of social media on self-esteem and body image, while
promoting positive online experiences.
Objectives:
1. Examine Platform-Specific Effects. Investigate how different social media
platforms contribute to varying self-esteem and body image outcomes,
considering the role of platform features, content types, and user
interactions.
2. Explore Demographic Variances. Explore demographic differences (age,
gender, cultural background) in the impact of social media on self-esteem
and body image, providing insights into diverse user experiences.
3. Identify Protective Factors. Identify factors that may act as protective
measures against the negative impact of social media, including positive
online communities, media literacy, and healthy digital habits.
4. Examine Time-Related Patterns. Investigate the temporal aspects of social
media use, including the frequency and duration of exposure, and how these
patterns relate to fluctuations in self-esteem and body image over time.
5. Develop Intervention Strategies. Develop evidence-based intervention
strategies, educational materials, or guidelines aimed at promoting healthier
social media use and fostering positive self-esteem and body image.
6. Evaluate Effectiveness:Implement and evaluate the effectiveness of
proposed intervention strategies, considering changes in individuals' self-
esteem and body image perceptions after intervention.
