Session Title: The Value of Friendship
Session Objectives: At the end of the session, learners will be able to:
a) Define friendship;
b) Identify the characteristics of a good friend;
c) Create a friendship card;
Key Concepts: 1. Good Friendship is a healthy relationship created overtime and built on Trust,
Caring, and Support.
2. Friendship is caring for and supporting each other.

Introduction and
Warm-Up Perform dance exercise. Let learners go in groups with their friends in
the classroom

5 minutes
Activity: “Tell me who your friends are”
Instruction: The teacher will present description of friends and the
learners will identify and write the name of their friends inside the
classroom or school.
1. Your childhood friend.
2. Your close friend (friends that we know we can call at any time
and they’ll be there).
3. Your best friend (friend when you need a partner in crime, )
4. The one you take care of (someone you once cared deeply)
5. New found friend. (Acquainted with)

Processing:
1. What is special with having a friend?
2. How do you value your friendship?
Concept Exploration 20 minutes
Good Friendship – It is a healthy relationship created overtime and
built on Trust, Caring, and Support.

Characteristics of true friendship:


- Enjoy spending time together
- Loyal
- Trustworthy
- Caring and willing to listen
- Accepting
- Understanding

Characteristics of a Bad friendship:


- Spreads Gossip
- Harms or hurt you
- Places you in danger

- One-side relationship
- Doesn’t care

Why do we need good friends?


1. Makes our lives more fulfilling and rewarding -provides us
with emotional support and lift our spirits during difficult
time.
- Are excellent source of encouragement and motivation.
2. Makes us healthier and happier.
- Friendships boost our self-worth (how we feel about ourself)
- We feel good about ourselves when we help a friend and
provide them with support

Activity: “My friendship Card”


Valuing/Wrap-up 10 minutes Instruction: Create a friendship card. Make it creative. Put inside the
card your promise to your select friends.
Write on your journal about a situation where you discover your true
Reflective Journaling 5 minutes friend.
