The practicum experience is one of the most exciting experiences
during this academic year, and it is full of positives before negatives. One of its positives is learning full responsibility, especially since you have to realize that you are responsible in front of a huge number of teenage female students. Among the other positive aspects is that I get rid of stress, especially when I give a lesson in front of this huge number of students. This has helped me to increase my self-confidence and express my teaching method completely freely. Among the other positive aspects is the students’ cooperation with me and the great respect between us. I have noticed that the soft manner with the students improves and builds a good relationship between me and them, and they automatically begin to respect me because they consider me as a friend more than a teacher. Therefore, breaking the barrier between the student and the teacher affects a lot, not only on the relationship between the student And the teacher and even on the effectiveness of learning. Just as this experience contains positives, it naturally contains negatives, or as I can give it a more appropriate expression “challenges.” One of these challenges, which is considered a general problem faced by any teacher, is the student’s very poor educational level, especially during the intermediate stage. I noticed that the students did not have the simplest basics of the English language, which was a major obstacle to the teaching process. In addition, half of the students did not have the necessary textbooks, which of course affects their teaching level. Another negative aspect that I found is on the part of the school administration, where the school administration did not seem to cooperate with the teacher, especially we, the trainee teachers, and the idea that we came here to learn and it is natural for us to make mistakes.Another thing that we know that each trained teacher has his own way of teaching, which he tries to apply to his students, but the school seems to undermine this freedom of teaching, as the school demands that we adhere to only one way of teaching, which may not be suitable for each of us. In short, this experience was one of the most enjoyable experiences for any new teacher, and like any new experience, it definitely contains pros and cons that build our awareness of this type of job in the future.
