Education

University of Aberdeen, MSc Integrated Petroleum Geoscience, 2019 – 2020

Courses included: Geophysics and Petrophysics, Production Geology, Regional Exploration, Applied
Sedimentology, and two residential field courses to Utah and Sicily where I carried out practical exercises in
sedimentology, stratigraphy and structural geology.
Project: A seismic and stratigraphic study of Somalia’s offshore hydrocarbon systems

TU Delft, BSc Applied Earth Sciences, 2013 – 2017

Graduated “cum laude” with 8.5/10
Courses included: Geophysical Methods, Sedimentology and Reservoir Geology, Extraction of Resources,
Petrophysics and Image Analysis, and Geophysics and Remote Sensing.
Project: Shallow marine reservoirs – a feasibility study. Examined and compared how a number of reservoirs were
explored and applied this to some recently discovered fields.

Relevant Work Experience

Junior Geophysicist, Fugro, Leidschendam Sept 2017 – Jul 2019

During my two-year training programme, I gained further experience in interpreting seismic data as well as
completing courses on leadership, project management and report writing. I was assigned to a number of projects,
including a major review of a subsea installation for Shell and the decommissioning of a platform. Here, I provided
the geological analysis which formed an important part of the risk assessment of the project.

Geoscience Intern, Shell, The Hague Jun 2016 – Aug 2016

During the first half of my eight-week internship, I was part of a team which provided the geological analysis of a
potential new reservoir. This allowed me to develop my interpretation skills hugely by working alongside very
experienced geoscientists. Later, I was tasked with collating and analysing data from an offshore survey in
preparation for a new pipeline.

Research Assistant, TU Delft Jun 2015 – Jul 2015 and Oct 2015
I was chosen to assist in a large research project on the feasibility of a ground source energy installation of a
planned new public housing development. I analysed large data sets and used ArcGIS to map these under the
supervision of the project leader. I was also invited to contribute to the final report after my placement had already
ended.

Office Assistant, IHC Training Institute, Kinderdijk Jul 2014 – Aug 2014
I provided administrative support, including organising dates, venues and catering for training days and longer
courses. I also liaised with participants, sent out pre-course information and collected and analysed feedback after
events.

Professional Memberships

 Student Member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG)

 Member of the Petroleum Exploration Society of Great Britain (PESGB)
Work-Related Skills

IT I am experienced in using ArcGIS through both my degrees and through my work

experience. In my MSc, I have also been introduced to Petrel and the Landmark suite. I am
also familiar with SPSS which I used for some of my course work and I am a highly confident
user of all Microsoft applications and a number of email programmes.

Analytical At Fugro, Shell and in my placement at the TU Delft, my work often involved analysing large
datasets, interpreting the information and making recommendations for my project teams.
I am using these skills again in the complex practical and laboratory exercises which form
part of my MSc programme. These have included wire log interpretation, petrophysical,
seismic and sedimentological analysis as well as the calculation of reserves and modelling.

Teamwork I have been involved in a variety of successful teams at work, during my studies and through
my outside interests. At Fugro, I was a member of several project teams, sometimes as the
only Geoscientist, where my contribution was vital to the success of projects worth several
million pounds. As part of my graduate training, I also completed courses in leadership and
I have learned to be assertive when umpiring badminton matches for my club.

Communication I have developed excellent written communication skills through my academic work. This
included a 5,000 word report at the end of my undergraduate studies. I also frequently
wrote reports and made presentations on my findings to colleagues and managers at
Fugro. I have learned how to communicate effectively with a wide range of people through
my customer service as a waitress and shop assistant.

Additional Work Experience

Waitress, Café de Oude Jan, Delft, Sept 2014 – May 2017

I worked part-time in one of the best and busiest cafés in Delft. It was vital to provide fast but also a very friendly
service to our guests, many of whom were tourists and not familiar with our Dutch dishes.

Shop Assistant, Albert Heijn Supermarket, Delft, Oct 2013 – Jun 2014
I was responsible for serving customers at the till and keeping the shop well stocked and tidy.

Interests & Achievements

Badminton – I started to play badminton in school and joined the club at the TU Delft in my first week there. I
regularly attended training sessions and was chosen to represent the club at a number of regional competitions. I
also received training as an umpire in the lower league. Since coming to Aberdeen, I have continued to play socially
once or twice a week as my schedule allows.

Cycling – I am a keen cyclist and have been on a number of cycling holidays, including to France and Italy. In 2013
I visited Spain where I explored the Pyrenees with a group of friends, which was a real challenge.

Photography – I have been interested in photography since the age of 10 when I was given my first camera. I now
specialise in landscapes and nature photography and have had several of my pictures published in magazines and
on websites.
