Series EJ17

Ejector Sizing
500 PPD (10 kg/h)

CAPITAL CONTROLS
EJ17 1" Ejector Sizing Curves
1 - 500 PPD (Sonic)

1. The EJ17 ejectors furnished for the NXT3000 and 70C4400 series vacuum gas feeders are equipped with fixed
nozzle and throat sizes. Each curve represents the performance of a nozzle and throat combination represented
by AAA x BBB on the curves. The nozzle part numbers are shown in the table following. The throat part
numbers are obtained by substituting the throat sizes in the part number as indicated below.

Nozzle Size Nozzle Part Number Base Throat P/N 419DBBBR40;

0.129 16540-1 0.159 throat = P/N 419D159R40 etc.
0.141 16540-2
0.184 16540-3
0.250 16540-4
0.312 16540-5
0.375 16540-6
0.437 16540-7

2. When the ejectors are used on gases other than chlorine, beside material changes, a factor must be used to
determine the equivalent chlorine capacity which is required. For ammonia, multiply the capacity by 0.5 and
size as a chlorinator. For carbon dioxide, multiply by 1.3 and for sulfur dioxide by 1.0

EXAMPLE OF AMMONIATOR SIZING

250 PPD Ammonia required: 250/2 = 125 PPD Chlorine. Use the next largest standard chlorinator sizing curve
(200PPD) However, Special conditions apply for ammonia requirements of 100 & 50 PPD. These capacities
require that the water supply pressure be increased by 20% when entering the ejector table. (e.g.: 100 PPD
NH3...100/2 = 50 PPD CL2 EQ, find water requirements and add 20% to the water pressure required.)

3. Solution lines from the ejector should be sized with consideration given to the flow rate and the length of solution
line required. Where line lengths are long, the following sizes are suggested:

Flow Rate Solution Hose or Pipe

Up to 7 gpm 3/4" ID
8 to 12 gpm 1" ID
13 to 28 gpm 1 1/2" ID
29 to 40 gpm 2" ID
50 to 77 gpm 2 1/2" ID
78 to 110 gpm 3" ID

4. When an ejector, up to 500 lb/d feed capacity, will be used on akaline service (pH=9 or above) typically for the
destruction of cyanides or the reduction of chromic acid, an ejector fabricated of all PVC material must be
provided.

NOTE: For high altitude operation when using the ejector with the 480 and 200 Series vacuum regulators, with a supply
pressure of 150 PSIG or less, increase the supply pressure by 1.0 PSIG for each 1000 feet above sea level for
proper operation.
